Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
I''m going to give your post some credence given some of the position changes you have down and the legitimacy vibe I get from it. So here's a few takeaways of mine:
- I'm glad to see Alex Byers making headway as the #1 guy. We need someone to step up there and I really hoped it was him and that he would be legit. I think we're pretty solid at the slot receiver and tight end position too. That's encouraging to see.
- A lot of the depth at LB was very surprising to me. We've heard a lot about Chase Christiansen so I was disappointed to see him that low on the depth chart. I"m also disappointed to see Baden Harris so low. He was a guy I had high hopes for. I was pleasantly surprised to see Miranda ahead of Huerta, and also that Joe Riggins is expected to start. Maybe Riggins is has a very bright future?
- O-line and Noseguard still have me a little worried. I hope Schuster is ready to go in a big way and some o-lineman are ready to step up.
-The DB's seem to be pretty loaded and have solid depth. I'm excited to see them perform this year.
- I was pleasantly surprised to see Togiai projected ahead of Taufa at the DE as well.

I'm working on finding out the legitimacy of this chart. But it is interesting in some spots, I'll give him that.

Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
Maybe because he already has inside information regarding black jerseys vs sdsu.antibluehair wrote:Why do people assume inside information?
And why would someone come and type up a full roster depth chart with key position changes plus knowing and adding in all of the new players if they had absolutely no idea what they're talking about?

Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
Good start. There's a few spots that would surprise me especially at LB. Also, there's 13 guys listed that won't be there for fall camp. Too many players.

Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
It's fun to speculate about this stuff but do we really have 15 freshman linebackers?!! I know some are redshirts but that's still pretty incredible, especially with all 6 depth slots for left inside backer filled with them. Perhaps an indication of the rebuilding mode we're in at that position.

Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
15 freshmen linebackers isn't completely accurate though because several of those are RS freshmen. Then some of the freshmen this year will RS so next year they will be freshmen still.AGGIEinIOWA wrote:It's fun to speculate about this stuff but do we really have 15 freshman linebackers?!! Yes I understand that but it still means 15 linebackers without any game experience.swishh_15 wrote:15 freshmen linebackers isn't completely accurate though because several of those are RS freshmen. Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
Love the write up jlove.
A couple of thoughts:
Id assume some of these linebackers won't be on the roster in the fall. A lot of the walk ons that played in the spring were brought in for a try out essentially.
I think Huerta will start. IMO the first four linebackers will be Williams, Huerta, Carmen and Miranda.

Do you really want her at linebacker?

Tyshon Mosely. But then rumors of Hunt being booted started floating around as well.BigBlueDart wrote:Okay, sorry. Who am I thinking of? Someone that got booted about a month ago?ratofallaggies wrote:noBigBlueDart wrote:Wait. Didn't Hunt get booted from the team?

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Craig Rucker didn't qualify? He looked like Natson 2.0. That's too bad if true.

Nope Rucker is academically ineligible. Look this roster is interesting but there are 120 kids on it and he is missing another long snapper which makes 121. Only 100 kids can go to fall camp the first of August and 10 more can be added to the roster once school begins for a total of 110. 11 of these kids aren't going to appear on the next version of the official roster.

No Ruck show is a big blow. We lacked that quick speed guy last year after Jojo was gone and Rucker should have helped fill those shoes this season. He was one of the guys I was most excited to see join the team. Disappointing.

Gerold Bright. Already been in the program a year. I like him toAglicious wrote:No Ruck show is a big blow. Fill that role more than a true freshman. It would've been better to have had both, but maybe Bright and K Will can do the job.

I also don't see Andru Tovi on here from Hawaii. Big lineman we could use his size. I guess he committed elsewhere

Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
I hope Bright can be that guy but his highlight tape doesn't compare and nothing in Spring ball stood out that would make me believe he has the same skill set. He seems to have good north-south mobility but not the lateral quickness or ability to create something out of nothing like Natson or Rucker. He seems perfectly suited as a slot WR with good vision and single cut ability to take it the distance.Madmartigan wrote:Gerold Bright. Already been in the program a year. I wonder if Lewis can step in and provide a little bit in this role?

Re: Depth Chart projection Sep 1 with every roster member
Tovis story is kind of strange. Coach Wells never tweeted out an Aggieup because we weren't looking seriously at taking Tovi. Tovi didn't really commit to the Aggies he essentially just tweeted out a commitment to the internet and the twitter world and kind of hoped it would come true.Maverick_Aggie wrote:I also don't see Andru Tovi on here from Hawaii. Tovi never committed anywhere else. Strange story.

Weird. I think we could use him! Maybe Shaw will be good though. From what I read BYU, USU, the U and SDSU were going after Tovi. I wonder what he's waiting for?GeoAg wrote:Tovi never committed anywhere else. Strange story.
