Drought control

Post by utaggies » November 20th, 2017, 10:35 pm

This is the series of plays from Dargenton’s basket at the 9:08 mark of the second half when he knotted the game at 58:

TO
Foul
2 FTs
TO
1/2 FTs
TO
TO
TO
Foul
TO
Foul
Miss
2-point basket @ the 4:29 mark

We went 4 minutes and 39 seconds in crunch time without a basket (and only one shot), had 6 TOs and 3 fouls. We never got the lead again.

The same buffoonery happened twice in the Gonzaga game (4+ minutes and 6+ minutes), the Montana State game (6-1/2 minutes), and the Mississippi Valley State game (5-1/2 minutes).

Who is the leader on this team when we need to stop the bleeding?

He’s hurt on the bench.

Kobe is the leader, he is out with an injury. So are Isby, Henson, Pearre, and Stall is on very limited minutes.

Is Isby hurt? Didn't see the court in the second half and just sat on the bench while the rest of the team was up and cheering on the players on the court during our run.

Not sure McEwen is the leader we’re missing. He likes to blame others when things go wrong and throw tantrums if they upset him. It’s never his fault.

Spot on. He's our best player, but doesn't mean he is our leader. His body language is terrible. After a mistake by a teammate he doesn't encourage or lift them up, instead he rolls his eyes or pouts about their mistake.

I was hoping he would grow out of that after his freshmen hear, but after seeing the first couple games this year the body language was no different.

And away we go. Here's to a season full of (I can't express myself without swearing) about a kid that didn't even play in the game. It's fair to criticize the kid for what he said but let's not eat our own. Look at how everyone ripped Jalen yet he overcome personal struggles to sign a two way contact. He was good, Koby is good. I hope we don't make him our to be public enemy number one. If his play doesn't pan out it will take care of itself,

Some on here must have their life tied too close to sports. It’s a game played by boys/men under 24 and you would think it affects those that could not play at that level like a voodoo doll. They suck, we suck.

It takes time to develop the leadership skills for most so it is not necessarily fair to expect that of a 19 year old, but when he has the most talent, fair or not other players look to him as a leader.

He's a great player and could be the best to come through USU. I'm just saying I hope his leadership skills catch up and quickly given the lack of upper classmen leaders on the team.

I thought Isby was injured, but he did play a few minutes in 1st half. He must be in the doghouse.
