They made a really good Gaels team look bad. It was probably one of the Aggies’ three or four best games last year, and made me r...

Re: Ken Pomeroy commentary on USU

His reasoning was that we were one of the "surprise" teams last year. Often times, surprise teams are a flash in the pan and then they regress to the mean. That's all that was taken into account. The fact that many other "surprise" teams in the past have regressed back down to their usual place. Wh...

Re: Queta

I don’t at all fault Queta for leaving and hope he goes first round, but I would be very surprised if Queta ended up as good as Capela. Just on eye test alone, Capela is stronger and moves more fluidly. As a result, I don’t think Queta is as “switchable” as Capela. I would absolutely love to be wro...

Talking sense into Queta would mean telling him to stay in the Draft. Potentially moving up 5-10 spots is not worth the (very high) risk of a career-ending injury. Queta will be a first round pick this year. Guys with his standing reach and any kind of mobility get picked in the first round. That's ...

I think the effort was there tonight. But they were unprepared. That's on Coach Smith and I think he'll remedy the zone offense over the off season. At half his comments even admitted his ownership. He took ownership because that's what good coaches do, but you can't put that on Smith. They had a p...

No way. I absolutely love Sam Merrill's game, but in no way is he a legit NBA prospect. He's a crafty scorer, and he'll have a good career in Europe. NBA teams will do their due diligence and at least take a look at the MWC POY, but Sam is a classic great college player who lacks an NBA body and at...

The announcers recognized that the ten second call was wrong, but the broadcast cut right to commercial right as the definitive angle was shown. They did completely miss the Queta trip, though, which was pretty infuriating.

They also called Brown the only senior on the team.

Re: Tell me again why Reno is a lock and we are not?

USU should be a lock, but I fear they need to win the quarterfinal game. That will be their last chance for a really bad loss. Avoid that and they all but officially lock it up. Nevada’s resume isn’t much better, but it is better. They beat two teams that beat USU in non-conference, blew USU out at ...

One year ago, the Aggies were 8-10 in conference. Imagine being told, at that time, that all of the following would be true for the '18-'19 season: *Koby McEwen and Daron Henson will transfer (along with Pearre & Dargenton graduating) *The '18'-'19 Aggies will have only one rotation player who was n...

Re: Is it just because we are the Aggies?

If anything, I would say lingering respect from Stew's peak is helping the Aggies' national perception. Maybe SDSU or UNLV would get more love nationally with USU's current resume, but I doubt anyone else in the MW would.

Re: Millers shooting woes

Miller definitely forces up one or two bad shots a game, but the spacing he provides is invaluable even when he's having an off night. This team is light on offensive weapons so he is probably carrying a little too much of a burden, but I'd chalk up the bad nights to variance. We'll see a 7/10 night...

Re: Would this team be good or bad with Kobe MceWen

Unless he started shooting at his own basket, Koby would help this team tremendously--whether he bought in or not. Ainge & Porter work hard, but they aren't MW talents. Knight is not ready. If Koby did "buy in," this team could be devastating. Still lacking depth, but McEwen-Merrill-Queta would be o...

This team had talent some talent last year, too. But its amazing what happens with addition by subtraction. Positive attitudes mean a lot these days! I put no blame on Koby at all. New Mexico was determined to shut him down after their last game against him. Per the advanced stats posted in another thread, Taylor is 2nd on the team in box plus/minus and 3rd on the team in true shooting %. I would have liked to have seen Stew allow the players a little more leeway to gamble on defense. Nearly every single player on the team was sub-par defensively so selling out for a few steals would have been worth it since the players couldn't keep anyone in front of them anyway.
