Re: New MW Connection Article: MWC Rivalries Stink

I'm not convinced "rivalry" can be measured - feelings are personal. I think using attendance for the case of Wyoming and CSU as our rival is flawed. First, it's a very small sample size. Second, a lot more goes into attendance than the opponent. I think the most influential is how good USU is and ...

Re: New MW Connection Article: MWC Rivalries Stink

Where did you get that average attendance number for Weber State ? Weber is not on the list for top attendance games at USU which lists all the way down to 25, 500. I remember many of those games with a stadium that was at best half full. Those are the attendance numbers from ESPN for the two Weber...

Re: New MW Connection Article: MWC Rivalries Stink

Do we FEEL it? I don't know that proximity, number of games, recent W/L records, and trophies matter as much as the way fans feel about it. I bet if you poll USU fans most don't feel rivalry feelings for Wyoming - and they won't until WYO and USU are taking things from each other. I would say that ...

Re: New MW Connection Article: MWC Rivalries Stink

Wyoming is a rival. No doubt about it. While the games haven't been meaningful, there is a major overlap of fans. Most of the biggest rivalries come from two teams playing at the same level, swapping wins, with fan bases that interact with each other consistently. While there are exceptions, this i...

USU and WYO have both stated that they are a rivalry and play for a traveling trophy.
USU and WYO don't state things, people state things. Who is stating that we are a rivalry?

But why does USU list Wyo as a rivalry? If two teams haven't played a meaningful game in 50 years - what kind of rivalry is it?

Re: New MW Connection Article: MWC Rivalries Stink

What makes that list a list of ACTUAL rivalries? Upon what foundation is that list created? Rivalries are emotional things, not things structured by number of games played or trophies attached. If no one feels anything - it's not a rivalry. I think you have to be older than 50 to think of Wyoming as...

Re: 2019 Utah State Football Preseason Preview: Offensive Line

Most those who predict our team to take a step back do so because of the loss of so many offensive starters. But many of next year's starters saw a lot of playing time last year. Between the new rule allowing four games to RS players and the high number of blow-outs, I dare say our returning players...

The picks in 2021 to 2023 aren't likely to be in the lottery. The ones in 2024 to 2026 could be. The Clippers could look totally different by that time. That seems like a long time from now.

Sounds like Kahwi is going to the Clippers and he's taking George with him. This is hilarious. I've watched enough Jeff Green and Emmanuel Mudiay to not really be all that excited about those two signings. Yeah. The Jazz are over the cap and have used their exception. They have to fill out the roster with rookies, and veterans willing to take the veteran minimum. Basically fringe-NBA players...

Competition refines capability. With as many scholarships as D1 football is given, there's no reason to not stack teams with competition (especially at the most important position). Having more quality QBs will benefit the team much more than not having enough.

1. Because it gives us as good of a chance as game any game would with for a potential Tier 1 win in the NCAA Net ranking. There's a decent shot Utah is top 75 next season. If we wanted to get into the world of counterfactuals, had Collette stuck around we could have had a much better team and our current view of Duryea could be very different.
