This hire is a head scratcher, unless they offered Simon but he took another opportunity and we had to fall back on Tod K as our second choice.

Re: Press Conference Tuesday

My conspiracy theory is that our AD was annoyed with Goodman for leaking the Sprinkle news so early, so now they're feeding him false info so he looks like an idiot. That would honestly be great - and I would be an even bigger fan of Sabau if anything like this was the case. I would be okay with ei...

Re: Press Conference Tuesday

Anybody have insight as to what kind of person Todd is? He seems generally well-liked. I worked with him at SUU. He’s got a good vision, wants players with a motor mindset. Impressive coach, probably should have been at UNLV instead of SUU. I think he’s solid as can be if it is him. My business par...

Re: Press Conference Tuesday

Is anybody else underwhelmed? He is slightly above .500 for his coaching career. I get that he is a family man and gives us a better chance of keeping him in Logan for a while but he hasn't really done anything super impressive? Check the success of SUU and Bowling Green before he arrived. That wil...

Re: Aggie announcer on radio here in St. George

I was going to start a thread asking about Sabau's efforts with the players. This is the first I have heard of it, but I assumed she would have made it a priority to meet with them immediately after the season ended to encourage them to stay at USU and hopefully even to get their input on the coachi...

Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements

The "I'd rather Bovee make the hire than Sabau" stuff here is comical. Under Bovee's watch, we hired a coaching staff and gave them five nights in a hotel and a good luck. Now we have an actual professional athletics director in place who is turning this into a modern D1 program that will treat peo...

Todd Simon was an assistant to Dave Rice at UNLV so that dynamic won't happen.
Dave Rice as a top assistant and recruiting coordinator would be solid, imo. As a head coach, not so much.

Re: Smith vs Odom

I prefer VCU as I'd like to see Bairstow and Shulga get the W over Utah and Smith. Much less of a factor, but also a small part of my reasoning is that I hold no ill will toward Odom but think Smith is lame for selling out to the Utes (he could have gone to literally any other program and I would ha...

Let's not forget that our worst football coach ever was also from Montana, so I don't think saying you are from Montana is the magic potion.
The Montana connection obviously doesn't apply to football. In fact, this just proves that the Wayne Estes spirit/energy connection with basketball is REAL.

I really hope Mason stays and plays out his entire college career at USU. He's so much fun to watch, and as a Cache Valley native he's the embodiment of Aggie athletics. USU boosters should throw every possible NIL dollar at him, he should be the face of Aggie basketball for years to come.

Re: What Sprinkle can't take with him

If you factor in the big increase in cost of living in Seattle vs. Logan, the $3.2M next year is not that big of a difference in actual money he can bank. The cost of living in Seattle is about 40% higher than Logan. This includes taxes, housing, groceries, meals out, utilities, etc. So, he will be...

Honestly, there is part of me that is happy that Sprinkle left because I was worried that USU was going to overpay him based on one lucky season. If he became mediocre with several years remaining on a $2 million per year contract, that puts our program in a very bad spot. This is purely my own the...

Outside the box coaching idea - Coach K?

Hear me out here, but why not go after someone like Larry Kristoviak. Perhaps we would take the job as a final stop in his coaching career... he actually seems lik...

Simon would be an excellent hire.
