I don't buy that the delay had anything to do with him shopping his services. He still would be, even if he had already signed
He would still want the West Virginia job, but wouldn't be as bad wanted other jobs. And the delay is going to literally cost us 5 million dollars.

I think we need to poach a peer coach. This way we already will be invested in them financially and won't have this I want top pay in the conference crap. My thought anyway. I know this will piss A LOT of aggies off, and be a very unpopular opinion Hear me out: Leon Rice. We could double his salary...

Steve Alford isn't their coach anymore. Probably our BIGGEST problem last night is that he isn't the UCLA coach anymore either.

Sitting through the NFL Draft

Are you, like me, going to be patient sitting through the NFL Draft waiting for Jalen's name to be called? Or do you just like to take a few minutes reading who everyone took instead of sitting though hours watching the picks? The sad reality is with NIL, having draft picks could become more rare th...

The bad news is from experience, we can expect UNLV to be prepared to play in the Spectrum against us. The good news is why can ALSO expect, just from experience, UNLV to be prepared and play in their OOC games the way they play in conference.

Another random thought: When you're losing an NCAA tournament game by 25 points and you have a couple of players that show up every day to practice and work as hard as the rest of the team, why not let them get a few minutes of game time on that stage? It's not going to have any effect on the outco...

Re: Would you rather…

Kind of a false choice, but I'll bite. If you're going to the tournament every year, you've got an excellent program. If you you only go once, but hit the elite 8 that one time, it might be luck or a hot streak, and not worth to me, but that's MHO. Think FAU from a few years ago. Fair program, but ...

If Calhoun can negotiate with others, so can we. We should be talking with Olen. Our short list of coaches to talk to should be Olen, Cross, Huss, and Phillips Put Huss at the top. Although we probably can’t pay him more than what he makes now, or an insanely better atmosphere to play in, but we ca...

Give Steve Alford 2 million dollars NIL and a fanbase like ours and he will be near the top of the Pac 12 every year.
I don't trust him with a 3 seed and beatable first round opponent. Nor with a big lead in the last 10 minutes.

When is the team's plane scheduled to land back in Logan? I figure we need to give Calhoun time to unpack and unwind. Then spend some time with his agent and lawyer to review the details. While I'd like to know soon I realize we need to give him some time. I would assume it already did. I know in y...

Crazy that this thread exists. Calhoun has been a great coach and CONSTANTLY talks about how much he likes being here and talks about the future of the program. We haven't really seen that in the past. I think he's staying. Yeah, but he’s not going to coach/live forever. We’ll have to replace him E...

If Sabau leaves over the president screwup

Then we need to immediately search for a full time replacement. We CAN'T just hire another interim and then wait until we have a new full time president to hire the full time replacement like we did last time.

IMO, the frustration of Ashworth leaving was only about 5 percent the fact that he wouldn't be on our team the following season, and 95 percent the feeling that this only the beginning and a preview of what the future of college athletics will be like.

Re: Calhoun Extension

I think our own success and program reputation plays into a lot of this. New coaching candidates look at the overall history of USU hoops and see a fairly stable situation with lots of known factors that are huge plusses. They see a program that has been to more NCAA tourneys than any other team in...

The reality is that with recruiting athletes in EVERY sport at USU, it's pick our poison. Either kids who aren't LDS have to adjust to the culture shock of being in the minority in Logan. Or kids that are LDS and fit in are likely to have a high probability of BYU being where they REALLY want to be....
