Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday
Toledo is objectively light years ahead of Bowling Green and SUU in every possible metric. Comparing Todd to Tod is apples to oranges, Tod has obviously had more success but never reaching a NCAA tournament is a tough pill to swallow. Not making it in one year at Bowling Green doesn’t mean much, an...

Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday
He may not be the sexy hire, but he seems to be a very solid hire, despite his lack of post season succes. I havent looked it up but im sure hes never had the fan support at Toledo like he will here, not only in the spectrum but also in the conference tournaments. I would be surprised if we are not...

Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday
I'm confused why people were excited about Simon, who also has zero tournament appearances, and less wins over a shorter career than Kowalcyzk. I, for one, think that this is a fantastic hire. You shouldn't be confused. People have given their reasons a hundred times, you just don't like them. No, ...

Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday
So, Diana opted to deviate from the successful pattern we've seen with our last three coaches and pursue a more conservative "safe hire" approach? There are certainly some advantages to bringing TK on board. Hopefully TK's contract spans no more than two years and heavily includes performance-based...

Re: A look at coaches and kenpom
I'm not sure I see these showing Todd is much better than Tod. I think the only reason you are thinking that is because Tod hasn't left Toledo for them to drop off. His improvement is just as dramatic as the others and his consistent KenPom ranking is well above Todd's. The MAC is generally a worse...

Re: Sprinkle press conference at UW
Sounds like a little damage control after saying earlier that he had conversations with UW during the season. Damage control for an awesome season? We got paid around 1.9 million to have an incredible season. I'll take it. Now we just need to hire a great coach and keep the momentum going I thought...

Re: A look at coaches and kenpom
That makes me really not want to hire an Assistant. South Dakota under Eric Peterson tanked. It makes me like Todd a little more. It took a little time to build up, but he kept it above everything except one year under Bill Evans. It also makes Tod Kowalczyk look above average, but not overly impres...

So if qualtrics university were to start contacting players without them joining the portal that is fine? It certainly is not fine but i can't imagine the NCAA will enforce it. Can you please explain why Washington is a bad situation? Please do. 3) they will play in a highly competitive Big 10. I doubt Danny finishes in the top 8 in either of his first two seasons 4) road games are 3,000 miles away. To me, this is a nightmare If the Big 10 gets 12 teams in the tournament ...

Re: NIL where did it go wrong?
I think the first issue was when we saw coaches at Mountain West schools making a million a year, but penalizing schools for a player letting a recruit crash on the couch or giving a recruit a bagel with cream cheese. Everyone saw how ridiculous the system was and that it needed to be fixed. So chan...

Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements
Follow the formula, get an up and comer. But with the success our coaches have had we should be attractive to most mid major coaches out there. And if we could pay Sprinkle an jaw dropping amount, we should go get an up and comer from a better conference than the horizon league or big sky. Let's go...

I don’t get the attitude of “you will regret this” guys. Sprinkle is built different. I would not bet against him getting to the highest levels of success in this sport. He spun gold out of nothing here this year and we should be thankful for it. It is like we got to date a super model for a year. ...

I’ve watched enough that I can tell anything will happen. Nevada was the better team, but momentum and the pressure of the moment made them get tight and they stopped making shots. This team seems like they know they are playing with house money. The season is already the most successful since we en...

Trailing by 3, Rice calls for a review with 2.9 seconds remaining on the Colorado shot clock. Refs add .6 seconds and Colorado scores as the shot clock goes off. Really bad decision by Rice. If you go back and review the footage, you will notice that the shot clock operator screwed up and did not s...

Re: The takeaway for the MWC and Big East
Boise played a tougher OOC schedule and was seeded lower than Nevada. I think the message was don’t have a home court above 4,000 feet and win in the OOC. Colorado State was the last one on the field and played Colorado, Saint Mary’s, Boston College, Creighton, and Washington (with only a loss to Sa...

Your conference. There is a reason Virginia made it in over St. John’s and Indiana State.

I think the ESPN BPI elevation penalty was in effect. With Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, and SDSU not getting penalized because they’re not at elevation.

I was a freshman when John L Smith left, had no insider knowledge or anything, but people around the program at that time have said he had a foot out the door towards the end of the season and that’s a reason our bowl that year was a flop. The risk right now is that Oregon State and Washington State are scheming to try and steal only a portion of the MWC schools, rather than do a full merger. Unfortunately, there are a few backstabber schools in the MWC that could be interested in helping them do this---namely the California schools....

If you want to make a Montana St. comparison, Danny was an exceptional player for them and brought them two conference titles in the Big Sky as a coach. He clearly did more for that program than it did for him. Here, Danny has become a household name in 10 months at USU and will likely be leaving b...

The more I think about it, the less I like it. This sounds like San Diego State is big mad they don’t get that much of the tournament credits they earned. The SDSU admin is still the same Admin that though asking the league to give it more time to find a better conference was a good idea.

We are becoming due for a flop hire. It's getting to the point that a kid would have to be nuts to come to USU, unless he was ok with leaving in a year or two max. I think people underestimate the home court factor and how it translates to away games. Once you’ve been in the Spectrum, even arenas l...
