Re: OOC

Not wanting to play a good mid-major makes some sense in football given downside risk. It makes no sense in college basketball, where more opportunities to get Q1and Q2 wins only helps a resume, and losses of that variety hurt very little. This is pretty discouraging to hear, as it could drasticall...

Re: OOC

On a recent podcast, Smith said that scheduling has been extremely hard this year and just last week a team dropped they thought they had. I don't expect the schedule to be done anytime seen. Sounds like nobody wants to play us. Not wanting to play a good mid-major makes some sense in football give...

Re: Number Changes so far

Weird. We have very little receiver depth and go about 40 deep at each safety spot  With the move we have 7 safeties on our roster! There is 10 receivers and that's not counting the 4-5 new additions. I stand corrected — it just seemed like half of our recent signing class was defensive backs.

Re: ESPN FPI has USU a lot lower than I would have expected

I think Mariner plays great at receiver, and the oline will be full speed in a few games. The thing that ESPN doesn't mention is that we have one of the best quarterbacks in the West. As Scotty said today, "The High Tide (Love) will raise all boats." I like our chances for 8+. Spot on. I think the ...

Re: ESPN FPI has USU a lot lower than I would have expected

The ones I really disagree with are being dogs at home to BYU and at AFA. I see us as favorites in those two (perhaps heavy favorites). The rest seem about right, IMO, which should put us right at 7-5 if we win the ones I think we should and lose the ones I expect us to lose. I think the defense wil...

Re: ESPN FPI has USU a lot lower than I would have expected

I'm really worried about the OL and WR position groups, the fact that retread coaches historically don't do great on their second stints, and the increased strength of schedule. I think 6-6 or 7-5 is probably about right for this season, unfortunately. Prove me wrong, Aggies! We'll know soon enough ...

My take — the most affordable school in the region she would like to work in. They do have loan forgiveness options for public interest jobs, but those can come with a pretty big tax bomb at the end.

I wouldn't be opposed to it. 5 star recruit. He'd be a starter at the MW level, but he has athletic limitations. ...

Re: Projecting Next Season's Depth Chart

I’ll trust the staff. Abel is no slouch and can run the point. I think Bairstow and Anderson will be two perimeter guys we didn’t have last year that should put pressure on defenses with their driving ability. We’ll also have more 3 pt shooting to space the floor. We just needed some guys other than...

Miller needs to work his butt of so he can find consistency. Hopefully one of the new guys can knock down wide open threes to open things up for Sam.

We should be scary good next year.

If Queta comes back, IMO, that’s the best USU team ever on paper, especially if Bairstow can be a primary ballhandler and we can get anything out of Groot or Stall.

Perrin said Queta got pushed around a bit today. That doesn’t shock me too much. He was up against a big Australian kid and #FreeSilvio from KU. Silvio De Sousa is a beast.

I selfishly hope he keeps getting feedback like he got today so we get one more year of him.

I'm not so sure. They are pretty happy with the guards they have.
We have 1 point guard.
We do have about 17 guys that are in the 6’5 to 6’9 range that can play the 2 or 3.

I like Abel, but he is our only point guard.

It’s hard to know what value lists like these have without knowing what performance bonuses and other compensation is available.

I’d also venture to guess that Logan is one of the cheaper MW cities cost of living-wise.
