Re: Women's Hoops

Men's sports are rituals/passion plays/battles before the city gates. Remember your Homer. These things actually matter to us. Women's sports are interesting and enjoyable at times, but don't really hold our interest. They don't matter to us unless we have a personal stake . To that, I would simply...

I love this graphic from the MWC basketball site. What’s not the same between all of the schools? :)

Re: Women's Hoops

Utah State gymnastics had one of the best beam teams in the nation. They were excellent on that apparatus. USU had one of the best gymnastic teams in the nation if by “best” one is referring to the upper 50% as opposed to the lower 50%. He said BEAM teams. Referring to the balance beam, that's one ...

I'll admit that I haven't attended many women's sports events, but when I have I've enjoyed it. The ladies work just as hard as the men and for little kids, they can relate cuz they play below the rim too. That said, it's tough and I have to pick and choose what events I spend my money on. Here is the problem. No one really cares who the coach is and how the team does. I wish the women’s team a success simply because it represents USU. The full game and a redacted 25 minute version is also on YouTube. A few observations having watched the game again: 1. Queta being called for being OB on the baseline was about the worst call I’ve ever witnessed 2. It did not look like Porter fouled his man on a SDS 3-point shot in the 2nd half whi...

Re: Vote for Utah’s Best College Players - KSL

The KSL bracket is ridiculous. The Zoobies will stuff the ballot box. What would really be fun would be for one of our computer jockeys to develop a 32-player bracket of only Aggie players and then have the bracket play out over the course of a number of weeks. Posters could make their case for why ...

There's two things really affecting it. #1 - The efficiency part of it. We went wire to wire with the #269 team in the nation. That really brought us down doing that this late in the year. While we did beat SDSU, it was also on a buzzer beater so that didn't give us quite as much of a boost as we m...

SDS certainly had more fans but they were individually way louder and more raucous than Aggie fans. The students of both schools were equally loud but the SDS non-student fans buried the USU non-student fans.

I would like to thank the coach of SDSU for not throwing some kind of double team, trap at Sam when there was about 10 seconds left. The Aggies have a dunking routine in the shoot-around. Everyone but Porter, Sam and Queta dunk. It kills me that Queta finesses the ball around the hoop. Jump hooks and stuff off the backboard but rarely any slams. Am I wrong in this perception?

I’ll be honest, I think this is the most anxious I’ve ever been for an Aggie game. I just feel like we’re in an interesting situation where if we win, we’ll go as high as a 7/8 seed, or lose and not even make the tournament at all. And I’m just the opposite. I’m more relaxed. I was much more keyed ...

After BSU got up on SDS they quit doing what got them the lead, i.e., aggressively taking it to the rim. Also, Jessup can’t hit his shots. As an aside, SDS fans are insufferable.

If you want to go the cheap route, your best bet is to wait outside the arena when the Boise & SDSU game is over. Fans will leave in hordes. Bairstow was a disaster. TOs. 4 fouls. Charging call. 5-second inbounds violation. Allowing his pocket to be picked for a basket. And zero points in 20 minutes. He pretty much did it all.
