Re: Baseball Talk - No Hitter

Another one where "the shift" costs an out and led to a triple: https://www.mlb.com/video/cedric-mullins-legs-out-a-triple?t=rapid-plays People bang on about outlawing the shift, but I think the better solution is to have players and coaches smart enough to take advantage of it. If you bunt down th...

Re: Salt Lake City Athletics?

Vancouver is another Western possibility. Would prefer that the A's stay in Oakland, of course, and have mixed feelings on Portland. They have made a lot of noise about getting a team, but I don't know if they are actually in the running. Vancouver would be pretty cool tho. Bigger city than most or ...

Re: Conference re-alignment rumors now in full swing

As a faculty member at a Pac-12 university for 45 years, I can attest to the academic expectations of member and prospective member schools among not only the administrations (presidents) but among the faculties as well. UU with its law and medical schools and research programs was a hard sell. The...

To be totally fair, that no hitter should only count as half, seeing as how at least half of the M's current lineup does not involve actual hitters.

Observations on this from youth baseball: The kids are taught to roll out of the way of pitches and I haven't seen any team (my son's or opponents) where the kids are trying to get hit. We are currently in 13U, for what that's worth. There is a combination of "good movement" and overall razzing whe...

Are there any former Aggie basketball players are working their way up through the coaching profession like Chucky, DJ or AL on the football side? Tai Wesley just wrapped up his pro career and I believe is living in Utah somewhere. He'd be an amazing assistant coach! Or maybe Jalen Moore. Tai is do...

I can't cheer for him unless he transfers to Idaho Falls HS. Hillcrest is ok, and as long as he's not at Skyline we can be in the same room, but he needs to be in orange and black for now.

How a team so $hitty has their only two wins of the season this far come against Tennessee and USC just baffles me.
I cannot figure this out. TN maybe, they are pretty bad, but I just can't fathom USC crapping the bed like that.

I question the wisdom of having a Leonard and Lanard in the same house. My parents already called us all by the wrong names and we were nothing close to each other.

By the fourth it was definitely not pro-SDSU. "What are they doing?? Why are they running? Why no timeout here? This is unfathomable." I missed the 1st half tho, so maybe it was pretty bad then.

If I’m on a walk with my kids I don’t let them run on a random person’s yard or even a neighbor’s yard. I don’t like that an individual’s decision to get a dog suddenly makes it neighborhood’s shared responsibility. If pet owners can’t control where their pet roams, goes to the bathroom, digs, or t...

Tricky thing this year: a lot of the underdogs are P5 schools, so pulling for the lower seed means cheering against a mid major, ie Buffalo, Wofford, etc. Of course, this is on top of the weird phenomenon where we cheer for snooty rich kid schools over the kind of place we'd actually go, just becaus...

Ok, UW grad and Seattle resident here. I hate it when USU and UW play each other.
