Re: Teams and Buffets hoping to have an answer for Matt Mitchell in Vegas

This thread is odd at best. Does Mitchell live in your head rent free? I’d kill for a guy like him in our team right now. Is he really that overweight? Even if he is, how does that affect any of us. We rode him pretty hard last year and it lit a fire in him.

Re: If I had a time machine

If you add a made three, two assists, two rebounds, and a steal does it change the game? That’s what Brito does in the same game time as Miller. I don’t know if that changes losses into wins, but it does make us better. Are there any defensive stats out there for college guys to see the impact on th...

Re: If I had a time machine

None because Queta didn’t play. I don’t think those losses are solely on Miller, but he certainly didn’t lead us to victory. My argument isn’t over the losses being in Miller, it’s that we would be a better team if Miller would find something he can do well and specialize in it. Newbold was hailed a...

Re: If I had a time machine

You can to defend Miller’s play all you went to, but he is abysmal in every category. If you go to advanced stats it’s even worse. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/utah-state/2020.html It isn’t just the misses, it’s taking shots away from Sam and Queta. Additionally, it’s the 2-3 transit...

Re: 8-15 3 point shooting

I would argue that Bean could guard 3s on the perimeter every bit as well as Miller van and then Anderson can fill in minutes at the 4. At this point we just can’t afford to let Miller go 1-8 every game with just average defense on the other end. We’ve got two home games where we are favored that w...

Re: 8-15 3 point shooting

Anderson MAY give up more on D, but that’s not a foregone conclusion and he wouldn’t need to play more than about 10 minutes there per game. Miller gets twisted around and can’t move side to side. He never gets physical with anyone so they move around freely. If you watch Brito and Merrill they bump...

Merrill took 5 more shots and dropped 17 more points.

Bean had the same number of shots and scored 10 more points.

Brito took 3 less shots and scored 5 more points.

Sit him down. 2 rebounds. No assists. No fouls.

A miss at the rim is a lot different than a missed three.

Look at the one Sam has late in the game right after he came back in. He’s lucky he didn’t foul out, but it lead to an immediate breakaway.

Re: 2 for 19 shooting from 3?

The problem with Miller is if he is having an off night (season in his case) he just keeps shooting and does not bring anything else to the court. A team player knows when things aren't going your way you find other ways to contribute and help your team. Miller does not. At least brito will have a ...

Re: How Ugly was this game?

Would have helped if Merrill didn’t have to sit for almost half the game. What could have been a pretty special night for him was taken away by the refs. Or we could have put Merrill back in much earlier in the 2nd half instead of guaranteeing that he wouldn't get much playing time. I never underst...

I agree with Tania. If we bring in a JC/grad transfer. With the new red shirt rules we could potentially both play the two freshmen and still redshirt them. I’m excited to see what they can do once here.

The biggest adjustment was at 41-40 we had Porter, Merrill, Brito, Bean, and Queta on the floor and went on our run. Addition by subtraction made all of the difference.

Better beat them in the tournament, otherwise USUs season will end with a loss in the MWCT. That was a very soft ejection. Call a T and move on. I hated the call on both players being tossed.

Better yet, don’t let a guy drive on another guy and give him a jump ball. Call a foul and half the fights in basketball stop.
