Re: Sam Merrill on Talkin' Sports

Tom Chambers lived in Clarkston, Utah in Cache Valley until he was 12. Then the family moved to Ogden. I played Bantam league basketball against him. Tom was tall even then. Best basketball player born in Utah? I would go with Sam Merrill.

Bbd, I lived in Loveland in 1977 to 1979. Does half the people in Loveland still work at Hulet Packard? Also water pick is close by. So is Kodak and in Longmont IBM. I used to go to Colorado Buffs football and CSU rams basketball. I was in charge of Valentines party at the Loveland LDS 2nd Ward. Man...

Re: Incoming freshmen

Estes, Nate Williams, Jeff Tebbs, Marv Roberts would have been some of the most impactful players, but freshman were not allowed to play on varsity. They just had a freshman team which was kinda cool because every home game I was going to with my old Pop was a double header. Freshman played at 5:30 ...

I don’t miss it. However, I enjoy it very much when Curry, Thompson, and Dramont are on the court, and Curry is making 30 footers without much effort.

The mascot national champ was awarded to Cosmo the booger over Western Kentucky. However, Western Kentucky is saying fraud took place. They said on the booger board they told fans how to vote more than once. Here we go again. The boogers of Provfornication just can’t play fair. They never will. That...

Tony Adams to the Forzani Brothers was a thing of beauty. I saw Munson play when I was 11 years old in the old Romney! Anyone remember a game against Idaho in which Merlin Olsen played QB for a little while in the 4th quarter. We were up like 76 to 6. It pissed Idaho off so much, that they threatene...

Best The Spectrum. Not because of seats though, it’s our Atmosphere I gotta put the Huntsman center at the U. Why? Seats are very comfortable I watched NCAA tournament games here starting clear back in 1969 until the last one they had there in 1997 or close to it. I don’t like the NCAA tournament at...

In Aggie future lore “ The Shot”. Will be remembered by all of us during this time period. Just like I always equate “The Comeback”. With John Elway coming back to beat Cleveland. Actually I believe it is called “The Drive”. It would be great if they put “The Shot” on the Jumbotron before the start ...

It’s that damn head sweat band! By the by, you old timers, do you remember who one of the first Aggie to wear wrist bands was? Paul Hoffman. He also shot the ball from behind his head. Does the ncaa allow you to play an exhibition game this time of year? Seems like a few years ago Gonzaga had an exhibition game because their conference always finishes early. I don’t want WV because of Huggins there coach, he is dirty thru and thru and I don’t want losing a player due to injury that Huggins tells his players to hurt any way they can. The ncaa should have banned him from coaching years ago!

I don’t see Gonzaga making it to the final 4 like a lot of the “so called experts” do. IMOP, their defense is suspect. They don’t have a lock down defense like they have had in years past. Plus, I feel they are missing a lights out 3 point shooter. We will see, I say no farther than the sweet 16, th...

This really was a defensive game on both sides. We shot 43% for the game, SDSU shot 34% we shot 37% 3 pointers, SDSU shot 26%. We shot 8 of 10 free throws, SDSU shot 9 of 10. We had 37 rebounds, SDSU had 32 rebounds. Refs let both teams play considering how miniscule the total fouls were!

Thompson was in the middle of our teams celebration after our win. Players were jumping up and down, and there was Thompson frown upon his face and looking like, damn my darling San Diego State didn't win. Had Boise State won I wonder if Thompson would have been smiling more.
