Re: Sam
Cleveland started out the season just OK. Then Sam got playing time and confidence and Cleveland went on a long winning streak. Then the injured 'starters' came back, Sam's time was cut and the Cavs have just been OK. Seems to be a pretty good in-season correlation. I'm sure there are other variable...

Kid went to Penn, but wants a real academic challenge so he's strongly considering Utah State. Hey if he wants the challenge Utah State can give it to him. Having been to Kentucky a couple times, I’m shocked the entire state was able to pool together enough money to pay him half that contract on an annual basis, let alone the buyout. Fly into Lexington and as you land or take off look at all the horse farms. There is plenty of money there, but you are...

Re: Current State of USU Basketball
As a new incoming coach he probably doesn't want to counsel anyone out until he has a little more time to watch film and get to know the player and then have someone that he can replace them with. It doesn't do any good to get rid of J. Grant if you are only replacing him with someone with a lesser ...

Re: Asking a coach about staying at a press conference
Last time I checked, a coach's longevity isn't a metric most people care about. Take ESPN, for example. The first column includes each team's win/loss record. Other measures the public seems to care about include tournament performance and national rankings. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...

Re: Great Osobor
Honestly, the starting forwards before portal additions should be Johnson and Dallin Grant. Dallin Grant was a shooter in HS. So you think Templin is better than Osobor but he shouldn't be starting over Johnson or Grant? So both of them must be two steps ahead of Osobor, right? In that case we shou...

Re: Transfer portal precedent
I'd even be OK if a player was given a free transfer if the coach leaves/retires/fired at the end of the season, otherwise, they got one shot and then have to sit out a year for a second transfer. I wouldn't necessarily love that but it isn't fair to have a coach recruit a player and then the coach ...

If Great and Karson come back, and I hope they do, there is no room for him. This guy is significantly better than Templin, if we had to chose, I’m choosing burns. I am hoping J. Grant and Burris move on :noidea: I will shed no tears either way about Templin, Phelps, and D. Grant. I would like ever...

Re: Non-conference scheduling
We lost to Bradley on the road. Would it not have been better to lose to a Duke or even an Auburn on the road even it was set up as a one and done? Perhaps. If we lose to Duke by 30 on the road but lose in overtime to Bradley it isn't any better to lose to Duke. Also, I would say that if we played ...

Re: 2022-23 Transfers Season Recap
I don't see anyone who transferred who really lost out. I would argue that Ashworth didn't lead his team to the Sweet 16, but he was a starter and probably 3-4th option. He played well in overtime in the NCAAs. I don't think anyone here would have been happy with his 8.5% drop from 3 point land. To ...

I may have misheard but I believe she just said the coaching staff diversity didn't match what was on the roster. I wonder if that's feedback from players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So its settled. Our new coach will be Craig Smith. His roster looked a lot like his coaching staff! LOL.

USU best MWC team in tourney
We all know that SDSU made it to the Sweet 16 but I would say that USU actually fared better for 2 reasons. 1) USU beat a higher seed than anyone else in the tourney (USU-9, SDSU-12,13, CSU 10) 2) If you combine the seeds of the two teams USU played (9,1), it is still a better seed than SDSU best vi...

I don't blame any kid for putting his name in the portal when the coach leaves like this. Although some of these kids might enter as a precautionary measure and then see cash ...

Johnson may stay. The rest are gone. I just hope Falslev doesn't go to BYU, although I expect that's where he'll end up. everyone tells me that he hates BYU so i have no idea why anyone would ever think he would jump ship like that. I would prefer to stick with the proven formula of a head coach with a prove track record of turning lower level programs around. Not that interested in an assistance. Also today, you almost need to hire a head coach so he has players to bring with him. On the players note. I agree but is it better...
