Re: Football player enters transfer portal
A college kid who plays basketball for your favorite school (and doesn’t get paid to do so) owes you absolutely nothing, and if this is the first generation to realize that, good on em. Doesn’t get paid, are you trying to stir the pot? Tuition, fees, books, housing, food, travel, hotels, media expo...

Merrill definitely showing he belongs in the NBA and making it hard for Bud to keep him on the bench.

Yeah, the Marco rumors have been going on ever since Smith left and we haven't heard any official news on it. If he leaves it clearly wasn't an easy decision.

I blame Smith more for this. When you have already betrayed your former team by going to their rival, the least you can do is not gut their roster as well to add insult to injury. Smith is completely dead to me now. There should be a non-compete type clause in coaches contracts that when they leave...

Re: We need to accept that it's a two way street
Yeah if RJ Eytle-Rock transfers here, I won't care much about Worster. Is he in the transfer portal? Not to my knowledge, but there has been a lot of talk about "following the coach that recruited you" in the assumed belief that Worster is transferring to Utah, so I was using the example of a star ...

Re: We need to accept that it's a two way street
Leaving for Utah as opposed to a school 1500 miles away that I haven't heard of makes a difference......at least for me. It makes a difference to fans, but in both scenarios it’s just players following coaches. Marco and Rollie don’t hate Utah like we do. And as fans posting here, losing coaches an...

Re: Big name in the transfer portal
It's interesting, with all the attention being on the transfer portal, maybe the smart approach would be to focus heavily on high school talent. You might be able to find some gems that were otherwise overlooked. Same thing for junior colleges - just a thought. I've had this same thought. Both HS a...

Potter was not highly recruited. I don't have high expectations there. About odom's plan, how does the saying go? Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face. Time to start fighting. Bean wasn’t highly recruited either. Neither was Wayne Estes really. True, but there weren't high expectat...

Pretty much the same thing that Majerus said when he lost in the Finals. He knew that opportunity to get that far would never happen again. To his dying day he could recount, second by second, the last 6 minutes of that game. One of the few times I ever cheered for the University of Utah in my life...

Re: Football player enters transfer portal
Players now do want to play right away more than in generations past. The idea of a college kid sitting on the bench for a few years and waiting their turn is a lot less common now than it used to be. However, that didn't apply to Worster. He was starting as a true freshman and his role would have b...

Do these guys not have friends Girlfriends transfer credits If you aren't going pro anyways you are missing building a legacy. Worster likely won't be an NBA player, but if he keeps getting better, he will have a basketball career overseas. It sucks he is leaving, but we don't know what Odom has in...

Re: Football player enters transfer portal
The lack of coach and player loyalty has certainly dampened my overall interest in both college and professional sports. True to a point, but fans have to accept we are hypocrites on this. We weren't loyal to Mick Dennehy, Brent Guy or Tim Duryea. Personally, I 100% supported the decision to fire a...

Re: Hartwell home run hires
Odom and Anderson look to be good hires on paper but they have yet to play a game at USU. We could be singing a different tune in a couple of years. Ard has a complete rebuild with the WBB program, we wont know much for a couple of years there either. There is a difference between a great hire and ...

He stated that he wants USU to be a consistent top 25 team and advance in the tournament. Not just contend for conference titles, not just win some games, but advance in the tournament. I like how he has set his sights higher. Only time will tell if this happens, but many coaches have won at USU. H...

I sense that people are upset about this. I'm upset with Rollie because he gave up on Utah State before he could see the Spectrum magic and the new coach's style. We don't need guys like this. That is what I'm excited about. We have won a lot of conference titles both regular season and tournament. We have our share of great seasons and big wins. It is now time to take the next step and start winning in the dance. I believe the only coach who has beat a 1 seed as a 16 seed fits the bill t...

Doing a little digging I discovered that Dave Odom (Ryan’s dad) recruited by a player from the Virgin Islands who played at WFU for four years. He went on to a career in the NBA. 19 years with the SA Spurs. Hope that there’s something in the family genes for coaches. I could enjoy watching Tim Dunc...
