Re: KAR: BYU's New Head Coach

Please move it mods. They literally have nothing to do with us. ^^^^ Not exactly. Reportedly, we had reached out to Pope when Sprinkle left to see if he was interested. If their new coach was making 2M in the NBA, they would have had to sweeten the deal. It gives us an idea of where we may need to ...

Re: Pope to Kentucky

If byu pulls off this Kevin Young hire that’s a great get for them. He was a finalist for the Nets job, is highly respected, and is considered to be on the fast track to an NBA head coaching job. Chris Burgess was very underwhelming. But Kevin Young is a different ballgame. I still dont get the lov...

I believe we got demolished at SDSU that season, lost at LA Tech after the y game, and I remember a really cold and wet Hawaii game at home in which we were close in the first half and got destroyed the rest of the way. That was one of the colder ones I've attended. The cold games always seem colde...

He'll definitely be on the roster if he is healthy. There's a chance he won't get as many minutes as rotations slim down for the playoffs, but he isn't being cut haha.

Yep Smith missed most of the season too. Rough year for injuries and delayed the rebuild by a season. Our 2011 season happens in 2010 if healthy and we probably are less likely to blow all the close games in 2011 and have a 2012 type season in 2011. It's interesting to think what would have happene...

4-8 record, but the Ags were highly competitive, unlike the prior years. Hope they keep it as the Coyotes. It is a cool name with a cool logo. You can say it doesn't make sense, but neither does the "Utah Jazz" and there would be outrage if Utah ever tried to change that name.

Re: Pope to Kentucky

If a potential student enrolls at BYU while not a member, they require an LDS leader endorsement in which they commit to living by the Honor Code - no smoking, no drinking, no sex, etc. It would be VERY awkward to have a head coach that didn't comply with those rules recruiting players and telling ...

Re: Pope to Kentucky

After all the talk about the Head Coach being a calling and the firesides the coaches do, I can't imagine them going with a non-member. Their program would have to completely be in the toilet for them to do that. Even then I don't know. They were pretty terrible at the end of the Roger Reid days an...

If they go against tradition it won't be now. It would be after they failed and had several bad seasons and had no other options. They'll give someone like barret peery a chance before they go the non-Mormon route.

Pope wanted to undercut spinkle at WA and ended up getting a better gig lol. And probably more money. I think Pope is a good coach and will do OK at KY. I hope BYU crashes and burns. Reality is fans adjust expectations based on how their team does and the wall their team hits. If you asked a Gonzaga fan 25 years ago they would be upset with deep runs in the tournament every year but not making more final fours, they would have told you that you were crazy, but that's how many Go...
