Re: Vote for Sam!

For the large margin of victory in the fan vote, Sam still didn't win the award. He was named 1st team though. Childs got 2nd team. The winner was Markus Howard of Marquette.

Ya can we give the man an extension and raise already. This got me thinking about if COVID-19 will effect our situation with Coach Smith. And frankly, this may be a teeny tiny positive of it. Especially if Football season is delayed/cancelled, all athletic departments are going to be struggling fin...

Re: Neutral Football Games

It's hard enough to get fans to come to a home game, let alone travel 90 miles for one. It's 100 miles from my door to Maverick and at the games I have talked to several dozen "Aggies" making the drive from all over the Wasatch Front (Davis, Salt Lake and even Utah Counties). those that drive far a...

Re: 2020 MW Football Schedule

I'm feeling like I would be genuinely happy going 2-3 against BYU, BSU, Washington, Washington State, and SDSU. Means that we for sure get either 1. A P5 win. 2. A win over a rival. 3. A solid base for a MW title. I know 2-3 isn't a great record looking at itself, but thats my goal for those 5 games...

Re: 2020 SP+ Projections

Yup S&P+ has a lot of questions about us. Losing a two and a half year starter at QB, our most of our DL and LB, the fact that last year was disappointing, and the fact that our recruiting is always bad, all contribute to our poor ranking.

Re: And the MWC capitulates to BSU demands. What a joke!

I love the comment someone else said in another thread "No reason to screw up this TV deal for something 6 years in the future." We are just giving them the 1.8 mil that their contract with the MW specifies. We didn't give them more. We get 3 times more in the new deal than the last deal. Boise gets...

Re: Boise fighting the MWC

I think this is the best move for both. Our conference is much better respected and gets a better TV deal with Boise here. Boise keeps its non-football sports in a better conference and doesn't run the risks of indy by staying in the MW (I don't think the AAC was a legit option for them.) Its not a ...

Honestly, wish that I had known that some people actually do "walk on" and its not just the non-scholarship offers when I was early in my undergrad. Would have been cool to have that as a goal for working out and then giving it a shot. Even just for scout team or just to say I tried.

My serious answer is that I want someone with OC experience over a spread offense. Preferably, FBS but if they showed a high level of success at the FCS level, I would be happy with it. I don't care if they have connections with Utah, if they are a "rental", or anything of the sort. Our program isn'...

The scary part is who Gary hires to replace Sanford. Gary has only ever proven to hire from the good ol boy network. That leaves some scary names.

Kevin McGiven, Dave Schramm, Aaron Roderick, Fesi Sitake, etc.
How did Aranda and Orlando fit in the good ole boy network? Or even Wells?

I was not happy with Sanford this year but wanted to be patient. He was running a system he didn't know. Should he have stood up and said "I run my system or I am not taking the job." Yes. But that might have happened next year. This might just open up the door to it anyway. Or we get a new OC who a...
