Re: 2021 USU Football Preseason Preview: Quarterback

Bonner split playing time at AState. I think he came here because BA told him he'd have a chance (lock) to be the starter and he'd play the whole game. Until I see something else happen on the field, I think that's how it goes with our QB.

Re: 2021 USU Football Preseason Preview: Offensive Tackle

The OLine looks pretty good on paper. I thought they played like they didn't know their assignments last season. They weren't getting beaten as much as they were letting players into the backfield untouched. I don't expect that to be a problem this season.

I like the size of this group. If they can learn to play as a unit Bonner should have time in the pocket to get the ball downfield.

Re: Coach Banda Interview

Biggest positives. Football is a game of emotion and Banda is full of it. He says the players want to improve. He also recognizes that recruiting is the key. I'm also glad he respected my request for anonymity when he was naming his influencers :joking: He used mostly "coach speak," but even with th...

Re: DE Position

Gary A was focused on LB's. He said we couldn't successfully recruit "Biggs" so he recruited LB's. What I see as a result of that mindset is that we have a lot of LB size guys on defense. You can see that B. Anderson is trying to change that with the transfers, but it's not going to happen this seas...

I’m not saying this is the case I’m just asking… would you rather have a D1 guy that is 6’ at WR, or would you rather have a D1 WR at 5’7” with sub 4.5 speed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You want the WR who is quicker. Speed and/or size is great, but if you're looking for the difference betw...

What can the roster tell us about possible formations and philosophy if anything? Do we already know and I am  ? These guys are 230lb- 235LB OLB's not DE's. Maybe you could call them rushing ends, if they come in on passing downs and go straight for the QB. That's not how Heninger played last season. He stood up and dropped into coverage. That isn't what a defensive lineman does. So where do you put these guy...

Just for perspective.

The NCAA makes enough money that if they distributed HALF their income to the players, every college BB player would get $500K and every college football player would have received $350K.

Re: Phil Steele’s thoughts on USU

Steele only has USU with one of the top units in the country on special teams, clocking in at #24. We don’t rank anywhere else at any position group. Good news is we are a +7 in his stock market indicator, so he feels we’ll be greatly improved. Two of his nine power sets even call for a bowl game. ...

You look at the NBA draft "experts" take on Queta and you can find one saying he's a 1st round pick, one saying he's a 2nd round pick and another says that he goes undrafted. It's a really good place to be. Low expectations from the media and most if not all outsiders. Sorry AI, the wounds from last season are still to deep for me to go back into the graveyard. I'm trying to convince myself it didn't happen. An aberration. Just a bad dream.

You went big picture. I think we'll surpass AF this year because we have substantially improved our LB's and DL. I think we'll be able to put 7 in the box. Shut down their option, and physically match up with their typical 250lb fullback who lines up as their QB. Expecting a better defensive game pl...

Re: Holy Utah Jazz

I still can't resolve in my mind how badly Rudy played v Clippers. It wasn't that he couldn't defend or score. He couldn't even rebound. Maybe the loss was obvious to the Jazz coach and he didn't want to lose and be questioned about why Rudy didn't play. Jazz fans (and I) called Paul George overrated?

Rudy should have been taken off the floor. He was totally defeated, to the point that he looked lost on the floor. And, as posted that's on Quinn. Rudy can either put on his superhero cape and save the Jazz or he'll end up wearing the horns. It looked like his feet we stuck in concrete when they tried to get him the ball in game 4.
