Re: ESPN FPI has USU a lot lower than I would have expected

I think Mariner plays great at receiver, and the oline will be full speed in a few games. The thing that ESPN doesn't mention is that we have one of the best quarterbacks in the West. As Scotty said today, "The High Tide (Love) will raise all boats." I like our chances for 8+. Spot on. I think the ...

Re: ESPN FPI has USU a lot lower than I would have expected

Now the DN has an article out on this: ( article link ) Utah State, fresh off an 11-2 season that saw the Aggies finish the year ranked No. 22 in the final Associated Press poll, ranks No. 83 with an FPI rating of minus-4.7. Part of the drop for USU could be in part that the Aggies are the only one...

Tania: So correct. Dax had a lot of interest and the sense is he can be a serviceable TE in the NFL if he can improve his strength and blocking. Sweet hands and athletic. I share your belief that another year at USU would not serve him well and do little to improve his chances. Strength training an...

Chic - As always you are spot on. I was really surprised as well. DT has everything that scouts knock Mattison for and the most glaring stat on the scouting report is that Mattison last year had just 9 carries for more than 15 yards, is a multi-stepper in his reads and lacks a burst to the edge. That was the only game those two played since they have an unbalanced schedule and didn’t meet in the tourney. I think the only way the Aggies get left out would be if anyone other than Nevada or USU wins the tourney. If the Aggies win it they would be 10--11. Lose and it will be a 12 provided Nevada is the champ.

Didn’t we just have arguably our best season ever with Wells “not recruiting the state hard enough”? Just because it’s a different recruiting approach than St. Gary doesn’t mean it’s wrong. As long as we get talent and produce on the field I could not care less where the talent is from. I don't thi...

As long as we have Tipa a traditional full time 4 man front is a mistake. However with LSU, SDSU, AFA, and Wyoming on the schedule the depth and De athleticism to add a tackle is critical.

After watching all those Turbin touchdown runds, I think Mike Smith might be the best fullback ever.
I don't know about best RB but the 2011 backfield has got to be the best running combination the Aggies have had. Turbin, Smith, Kerrwyn, and Chuckie.

Re: Queta should get the ball more

Queta is a huge talent. Some of the problem getting him the ball in the post is he is on the bench with foul issues. Last night and against AF fouls were not an issue. For a point guard to get him the ball, one must have point guards capable of getting him the ball on a consistent basis. Sent from ...

One Shooter away

As cobbled together as this roster is with no point guard its amazing how well they compete. But you can't let the road team shoot hit 15/31 threes and go 6/20 and expect to win. Merrill gets way to much defensive attention and if Miller or someone else on the wing could develop into a consistent 3 ...

No idea. But if I were to guess I'd think it will be much like Gary had. Gary didn't blitz a ton - not as much as Orlando did. If he models after what Gary had we'll do a 3/4/4 and sometimes a 3/3/5 and one LB will be a between a DE and an OLB and we'll have a safety who is between a SS and an OLB....
