Re: Jordan Love & Gerold Bright busted for smoking weed

I'd love to hear from our local USU flat foot...... I'd run circles around you both physically and intellectually, sport. I waited a few days to allow you apologists enough rope to hang yourselves with. In Utah, possession of metabolite in your bloodstream is not considered possession of a controll...

Biggest Frustration last night

Hard to nitpick a win but I felt that the ball needed to be in Queta's hands in the post every single possession he was out there last night unless it involved a cut to Bean before that. He should have had triple the touches and double the shots. Let him make the passes if he wants. Better yet just ...

Re: Miller's shot

Miller is a momentum killer. If he has to be out there Smith needs to instruct him to pass his way out of the slump to Queta inside rather than shoot his way out.

Didn’t AF go off on 3s in the second half the last time we played? They missed a lot of open 3 last night, that was the difference, they only made 3 for the game. Also justin bean lead all in points, reb, and assists. The whole team was dead and disinterested in Colorado Springs. I have no idea why...

Brito gifted them the ball at least 2 times down the stretch. The last in bounds pass at the end of regulation was a thing of beauty. It's inspiring to watch the culmination of years of practice with emphasis on John Wooden fundamentals exemplified in one magical moment. Two hand chest pass perfect...

Re: These are college kids, so take it easy.

Guys, guys, guys. I don’t want to hear about our players sucking. This one is squarely in Smith. The substitutions, the foul management, and playing not to lose with 5+ minutes left are coach’s decisions. We stood around until there were less than 10 seconds in the block to start our offense. Of co...

Re: I believe that we got iced by the fouls and review time

The thing is both teams had to sit through the fouls and the reviews. This was lost by poor coaching and expecting 4 guys to play for two hours and not get gassed True, but the moment changed in the game was when the fouls got crazy. Refs had more playing time than the players at the end of the 2nd...

Has Collins ever calked defensive plays? Football is football. Collins shined on special teams and has plent...

Re: Depth Chart conjecture with shifting back to 3-4 base defense

I did a quick compare of the 2018 roster to the 2019 roster. Here's what I found: We had 10 LBs in 2018 who returned in 2019 - HALF of them moved to DE in 2019 We had 8 DEs in 2018 who returned in 2019 - HALF of them moved to DT, one to TE So we had half of our returning LBs and DEs moved UP to a p...

Re: Staff Shakeup Ena out as DC

Stacy will be in the box calling the D. Frank will be on the field. The lack of strength is a issue I believe was a big problem up front as does G.A. We'll just have to disagree. Yes D-line strength was a huge issue on the outside because we had our OLBs playing out of position. I saw it much more ...

Re: Staff Shakeup Ena out as DC

If we are going to judge how good these coach's are based on what scheme they run , that will be a error, because last season we had a huge lack of strength on the D. front line people, and one good linebacker. We were not tough enough. Recruiting and player development is 90% of the job. Scheme's,...

Re: Staff Shakeup Ena out as DC

Frank stated at the press conference today that there will be a return to the 3-4 defense. He specifically named running something similar to what was run in 2018. The Aggie Gods are smiling right now. This is great news as we for sure don't have the horses/depth to run 4 down lineman. With switchi...

I liked the article. It tells me that Andersen has a plan. He has my support. Next year could be rough, or it could be good. Only time will tell. That is really good news and I hope for some big changes on D. The offense will benefit too from creative diversity if he can find the right coordinator....

Re: Who makes an NFL 53 man roster?

Galea hasn't had much of a year. Another puzzle. Tipa is interesting. I think he could make a roster as a 3rd down specialist and special teamer. He suffers from the same problem Fack has had in the pros as an every down rusher but he has so much finesse talent that he can give tacklers fits when h...

My expectations had been eight regular season wins. Seven was merely disappointing. maybe stating the obvious, but i would point out the lag-year from 2011, when we made the change to the 3-man front and 2012, when we actually saw the benefits of the switch reflected in the statistics. what are the chances that our stats jump WAAY up over the next two years as we are able to plug ...

I'm not sure that Strength is the biggest issue here. They can all be stronger but it was the lack of athleticism, speed, and instincts that worries me the most. Our D lineman can get stronger and bigger but I don't see anyone returning who is going to solve the D end problem. If the Aggies are goin...

Re: A Synopsis of the Defensive Scheme Argument

Of course we did run a 3 man front a lot this season. Losing Woody was a complete disaster and the Aggies did go with a 3 man front at times but it was a far less aggressive philosophy with a lot of 3 man rushes and Tipa dropping in the flat. I've said what I think more than enough. While Woody's l...

I had this exact same discussion today with a byu co-worker. It makes sense. They come from the same Utah coaching tree. The Utah scheme has worked really well down there for many years. Not same result, QB ran on 4th down, if they are their own 34 they punt on 4th and 1, not go for it. Of course all the plays would have been different. He would have pulled the ball on 3rd down and still been running. The Aggies had no one assigned to him. They weren't stopping anyone. Onside was r...

How can you out have a good d if you have no linebackers and a below average secondary. How many tackles did the linebackers have last night?
