Re: Green bay tagged loser of first round

Well, most of the criticism I have read about Green Bay's draft has not been criticism of Jordan Love per se. Most of the comments about Love have been along the lines of, "Huge arm, incredible potential, but it will be good for him to sit behind Rodgers for a few years and learn how to make better ...

I have always been curious...Who was responsible for recognizing Jordan's talent? I know it happened under Matt's watch but who is the one the one that was sold on his talent early on? Any of you alpha posters (22, SlCAg, rat, et al) know? I thought I read somewhere that it was Josh Heupel, but don...

Re: Sam Merrill's draft potential?

Yeah, I have to admire Merrill's religious convictions, but NBA teams rarely draft 24-year-old players. If he hadn't gone on a mission, I think there is a good chance he would be picked up in the second round somewhere. But at his age, UFA is probably the best-case scenario. But assuming he doesn't ...

Re: Where will our bowl game be?

Honestly I hope Boise and Memphis lose and Appalachian State gets the NY6 bowl. App State is a darn good team that is underrated. Got a veteran QB and RB and have 2 decent wins vs P5 schools in North and South Carolina. Their only loss was to a bowl eligible team by 3. Part of me is rooting for the...

Re: Rooting for the Utes to make CFP?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm rooting for Utah to make the CFP, but I'd much rather see Utah (or any other conference champion) make it than a second SEC team. Granted, if Georgia beats LSU in the SEC CCG, both teams probably deserve a CFP spot, but still... Alabama is out of the running n...

The potato bowl (950K+) is more than double that of the Arizona bowl (415K+). We would loose money for sure at the Arizona bowl. Likely make a little at potato. https://twitter.com/kcsmurthwaite/status/1201655826664087552 This. My understanding is that, like most conferences, all bowl payouts are d...

Preseason quantitative rankings don't mean much. But it's interesting that Ken Pomeroy's rankings aren't very high on USU, either. Jeff Sagarin has us as the favorite in the MWC, but only like #37 overall. As I recall Pomeroy made some comments to the effect that if a team overachieves out of nowher...

If you compare the Brent Guy era to now, I don't know how any objective-minded person can say that our program hasn't been improving. Lets keep this going! Reason #5 - the whole team got drunk Friday night and with an early game time had no way of sleeping off the hangover. No. That's the recipe on how to lose a Potato Bowl against Cincinnati. Didn't Michigan use a similar excuse after their epic upset against Appalachian State? ...

The two biggest upsets in history (and three of the top 10) were all in 2007. I remember SBNation had a big piece arguing that 2007 was the craziest college football season of all time. I remember they ranked the biggest upsets that year and I don't think the Navy/Notre Dame game made their list. I ...

Re: TT fans in meltdown mode over Wells starting the wrong QB

To be clear, I like GA and I'm glad he's our coach. But I do think that many posters on this board give him too much credit for our football program's revival. He certainly played a major role. But there are a number of others who were equally (if not more) important. I would list Jim Laub as most i...

As I recall, Sagarin has USU as about a 2-touchdown dog, and he gives us a 13% chance of winning outright(!). And historically teams coached by GA have played competitively against heavily favored P5 teams on the road. I’m not going to predict a win, but if we play this game to win, I think we cover...

On one hand, it sounds like Self did a good job of creating plausible deniability, and the Adidas guys are willing to fall on their swords to protect Self. On the other hand, the NCAA dropped the hammer on Louisville pretty hard even though they couldn't prove that Pitino knew about the strippers. A...

We should beat CSU, Nevada, Wyoming, and New Mexico. I give us about a 50%-60% chance against AFA, BYU, Fresno, and Boise. LSU is almost certainly a loss. I think we end up with 7-9 wins.

Berger's dad felt that Danny should be the face of the program and that USU owed him more. When he didn't get it he left and tried to get everyone to leave with him. Well, as I understand the contract, it doesn't say that BSU automatically gets an extra $2 million until the end of time.
