Re: Fans in the stands?
FWIW, UNLV is going has submitted plans for approval to get 6,500 fans in the stands at UNLV games (10% of allegiant stadium capacity). Pretty funny that UNLV will play in that stadium in front of fans before the Raiders. And yes, I'm going to try and go to at least one game (probably Boise) to che...

bowl season is going to be wacky this year. No win requirement and bowl games can start as early as Dec 1. https://footballscoop.com/news/ncaa-releases-bowl-requirements-for-2020-hint-there-are-none/ Makes sense with the abbreviated season, but will be interesting to see how it plays out. watching games on Saturday knowing we weren't playing, and won't be any time soon. No need to rehash the reasons here - we all know both sides of the equation inside and out by now. Just lamenting that the season has started and some teams get to play while we get to watch. Must be especially hard o...

Re: When will we know if there will be a season?
Utah is faring better and opening up more quickly than other states, and was never as restrictive as most. The fascinating question will be if some schools/conferences are open for business/football and others aren't. Do you re-schedule with teams that will play? I could see Utah giving the green li...

One more year for Sam/Brito?
Looks like spring sport senior athletes will be given another year of eligibility. NCAA looking into what to do with those that played winter sports. Would be fascinating if they offered another year of eligibility to Seniors in winter sports?? https://twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/status/123851508045681...

I'm a local. Can't make Thursday but will be there Friday and Saturday if USU advances.
Also note they are doing the pregame alumni events so plan on arriving early if interested in attending.

Dave Aranda gets the head coaching gig at Baylor. Was some talk in December that he might take the UNLV job before they hired someone else. Baylor clearly a better job. Will be interesting to see how he does as head coach.

Re: Bovee on attendance
Even when Spectrum magic was at its peak, were we regularly selling out non-conf games in November and getting large student crowds? IIRC, even during the peak years the students showed for instate rivals and in Jan/Feb/March for the conference games. If we don't get large turnouts to the conference...

Nevada played at USC and Utah last year to get these home games.. I'm certain USU would be willing to play an H/H with either of them. I get why USC wouldn't want an H/H with USU, but Utah is **** and just wants to solidify its claim as the top athletic department in the state by avoiding other in-...

Others I've seen:
Jeff Goodman has us at 19, Jon Wilner has us at 21.
Gary Parrish did not put us in his Top 25 and 1.
Starting the season ranked would be amazing. Anyone know when last time that has happened?

Re: Smith extension and raise
With the new coach at UNLV another Summit league guy making $1.4 million. USU needs to keep Smith happy that will take charter flights to 9 conference games, and a salary of at least $850, 000. Not only $1.4 for TJ, but the almost $1m for the buyout to SD State + whatever they have to pay Marv if h...

I know some think we're a lock for NCAA and some (like myself) are a bit more skeptical. As such, does anyone know what the NIT selection committee rules are regarding co-conference champs? I like Hutson and think he's a good coach, but not sure how he got one vote and that Smith wasn't unanimous? Is there a rule that prohibits the local media member from voting on their own team (i.e., the Utah State voter couldn't vote for any USU candidates)? That's the only way this makes sense.

Re: You guys that are thinking we’re a lock
I was a freshman at USU in the 03-04 season when we were in the top 25 and left out, so I will never think we're a "lock" until our name is on the screen on Selection Sunday. I believe we have to win at minimum our first game in the tourney, and likely our 2nd. I was a junior at USU that same year....
