Re: First commit

Anyone else watch the JR season highlights for the Duvalko kid? I likey! Seems like he can get the ball out nice and quick, strong arm that can make a lot of different throws, seems to be accurate, decisive decision maker, can throw from within and outside the pocket, nice little fake to freeze the ...

I’m not sure about Baron being moved back or not but isn’t he like 30+ lbs bigger than the largest guy on this entire list?

Re: Carson Bischoff

Here’s his highlights from this past juco season. He’s sure got some range and not afraid to use it. I like his offensive game as he can keep defenders honest in that he either shoots the 3 or can get defenders to overcommit and then he attacks the rim. I’d like to see Brock do that more. He settles...

Re: Flights to wake forest

I have to travel to Winston-Salem for work periodically. I typically fly into Charlotte because there is a direct flight from Des Moines and then drive the 1.5 hours up to WS. You could fly into Greensboro, which is really close to WS, or into Raleigh, but depending on your departure city, they’ll l...

Re: New commit - 2019 WR Sean Carter

Re the O-Line: GA and Coach Woods worked out the current O-linemen (and watched film of them) and concluded JC or transfer augmentation was unnecessary. That is good enough for me and then some. I think the ceiling on some of the young guys on the Oline may be higher than some of the ones that grad...

Re: New commit - 2019 WR Sean Carter

The one thing that concerns me about Carter is he only has 22 career JuCo receptions. That puts him right near the JuCo production of Devin Heckstall and we all saw how much Heckstall saw the field in 2018. That doesn't mean that he can't contribute BUT it does mean that he didn't see a ton of acti...

Re: New commit - 2019 WR Sean Carter

I like what I see as well. Looks like we replaced the size of Tarver and Greene with this kid and Mariner. Hopefully he can step right in and compete. I was pretty worried about the WR group a few months ago but I think we may have a pretty decent bunch and some weapons to work with.

Re: Projecting Next Season's Depth Chart

My thoughts ...for what they are worth: - At least to start with, I don't see any of the new guys usurping the returners. I think Bean starts at the 4. I expect a significant step forward in both his and Brock's games this year. They started playing with more and more confidence towards the end of l...

Re: Nebraska’s Heiman in the portal

After watching his high school highlights I think the kid has a decent upside. He is mobile, moves well, and can run the floor well. He’s definitely not a 6’11” stiff. He can play with his back to the basket with some nice post moves and also has good form on his outside shot. His level of competiti...

I'll say it. The 8:30PM start time at the end of November against Boise SUCKS. Let them complain about attendance. They dig their own grave. The start time is controlled by ESPN, USU has no control over that. Comment was in regards to those who sold the TV rights. I do not like the start time eithe...

OK, so SB Nation came out with their season preview for USU. Fairly close to my probabilities except S&P shows we should actually be favored over Wake, a ...

Re: 2019 Season Projections

Our chances of winning each game in my mind based on what I know now. If we win the ones we are favored in and lose the ones we aren't, we'd be 7-5 and then I think we win a bowl game against a MAC team in the Potato Bowl and get to 8. That being said, I think we have a lot of swing type games (40%-...

I would agree that Alford is the most decorated/proven coach in the conference. That being said, there are some other coaches in this list that I’d rather have at the helm than Alford. That guy is not very likable and wouldn’t have been a good fit at USU. If I were Hartwell and had all these coaches...

Re: Potential Grad Transfer PG: Edric Dennis

Seems to be a scorer but I’m a little concerned about: 1) How many shots he took to get his points (low shooting percentage) 2) More turnovers than assists per game 3) This would be his second transfer as he played one season at Jackson State, then sat out and played a season at UT-Arlington. I’m no...

I like your thinking Thunder. Assuming he is fully recovered and back to 2017-18 form, I think Drew would compliment this team very well. He has a ridiculous assist to turnover ratio (almost 4:1), rebounds, defends, has good height for a pg, and seems to like the 3 but love the rim.

Would be interesting to see where Tim Miles ends up. Maybe he’ll end up back in the MWC with Nevada and coach against his two protégés (Craig Smith and Niko Medved). He had some success at CSU when he was there and did a decent job at Nebraska even though he couldn’t quite get them over the hump.

Hate to say it but having McEwen would have helped. He has the ability to dribble drive the gaps and then rise up and hit the mid-range shot. Sam really struggled with that. I would never trade Sam for Koby but having a Koby-like player would have really helped us in that game. I thought Brock had s...

Boy, that Nevada game was painful to watch. I see we have a new walk-on WR (Derek Wright) under your new additions list. 6’1” / 190 and Nine TD’s and 800 yards at Snow last year. His tape looks pretty good. Not a burner but decently fast and athletic with good hands and use of his body. Anyone see him play or have a take on if he has a chance...
