Re: Smith vs Odom

I've lost track with the covid year and all. Does Shulga or Bairstow have any eligibility left or is this the last hurrah?

One game sample size, but not really missing shulga or bairstow tonight
One game sample size with either of them was always iffy. Never knew what you'd get from one night to the next.

Re: Who should be our next head coach!

Just curious, but does anyone know why Tod, not Todd, withdrew his name from considering the job last year. According to a June 2023 news article from the Toledo Blade: This is the second time this offseason that Kowalczyk’s name has been closely linked with another head coaching job. In April, he ...

Two others to be considered. (They may have already been mentioned, and if so I am sorry. I don’t see everything on this board. ) Two guys I would like to see on the list. Madsen , CAL and before that SUU. And Pope, BYU. They are really good coaches. Great recruiters. From Utah, not too old. Would ...

Re: Head Coaches that we should consider

Top Choice: Henderson from South Dakota State would be a good fit. If he could bring a few players with him such as Mayo and Kyle, that would be excellent, although I've got to think Mayo may have some level offers. 2nd: Kowalczyk (Tol): the guy builds winning programs and not just a winning team. ...

I really appreciate 22’s insights here, he is right a lot more than he is wrong and I enjoy his comments. In some cases, it can be challenging (at least for me) to know whether 22 (or anyone for that matter) is sharing “insider” information or just opinion. I believe he said Martinez wouldn’t be cl...

Re: Head Coaches that we should consider

I haven't seen any mention of David Riley at Eastern Washington. Any reason why not? Any thoughts? That’s because this asinine separate thread was started for no reason. We had another thread discussing coaches that was 14 pages long and discussed David Riley ad nauseam. There was a ton of good inf...

Re: What Sprinkle can't take with him

I am glad we didn’t sign up to pay $2 million for a coach. That’s not a good bit of business because: (1) it isn’t enough to keep someone from moving up if the call comes; (2) it’s way too much to owe if the coach doesn’t replicate the same performance. Our coach should probably have a base salary ...

If you're going to go outside the box, I liked one name on the list of possible WSU hires. Gentlemen and Ladies let me present to you the new and improved Bob Huggins. Exciting style of play. To me a guy that can recruit and succeed at SUU is a much more attractive trait than someone who could just keep current players. Nothing against Hill, but retention of current players in this day and age is not a big plus, IMO.

Given what Sprinkle did here in one year, I don't think there will be a lot of patience for whoever comes in. Having 1-2 years of mediocre success will probably have that coach on a very hot seat entering year 3.

If you were a player: Would you wait around to see who will be the next coach at USU and where you might fit in his plans? ay Wright made a great observation. He said the day of getting one and done high school phenoms and winning against teams that are rostered by grown men are over. I think his point is with the money being handed out, kids are staying around and playing at age 23-25 instead of 18.

I hate games like this. I had USF +8 and the clawed back for what looked like an easy cover and now OT and I have to sweat it out all over again. Be nice to see the Dons win outright.
