Re: Hoops Spring Signing Period Begins Today

Anderson has been updated in 247 to the number 13 jc player. https://247sports.com/college/utah-state/Season/2019-Basketball/Commits/ Things just keep getting better! I knew Alphonso would get re-ranked. FYI, they have his position listed incorrectly on the ranking, which also affects his overall p...

Re: Hoops Spring Signing Period Begins Today

Until I see Bairstow and McChesney play in an Aggie uniform, my expectations for them are not that high. You have to remember that both have not been playing against the highest of competition. Bairstow at least has some national team experience but this will be a big step up for both of them. McChe...

[*]was your comment "unrelated" in parenthesis regarding the Shaw's about their current class and position or about their relationship to one another? I only wondered because I read it to mean the latter and they are most certainly brothers. I "thought" I was told by `22 they are not related. That ...

Re: Spring Game Updates!

All great questions AF! I am still baffled by Mo Uasike not being used on the DL - especially given the lack of healthy bodies during Spring. He was one of our highly touted recruits and a former starter on the DL so what is the issue? Does the staff feel like his best shot at a future in the pros i...

Re: Jake Toolson

Reading back through the thread I believe I'm the only one that mentioned something close to not wanting him, but to be fair that was when we had one open scholarship to give. I stated I didn't want us to use that lone scholarship on Toolson since I believe we have more pressing needs to be a comple...

Another spot will be opening up. Have heard from someone inside the program that Fakira will be leaving the program. Have also heard from highly credible person in AD that the level of potential transfers who have reached out and expressed interest in transferring would surprise us. The early top 2...

Re: Spring Game Updates!

The team looked great except the offensive line. They gave up 5 or 6 sacks and couldn't block for our running backs. Overall, Pocket protection was alright, but it is definitely our weak spot this year. Scarver had an awesome catch fading in the end zone, jumped over a defender to make the catch an...

Meh, I hope we don't use our 1 scholly left on Toolson. We already have a better version of him in Sam. What we need is a true PG that is quick, can create for others, and can attack the rim but demands defensive attention from the outside. I also wouldn't mind adding an athletic 4. Either of these...

I think we expected that he and possibly Queta would put their names in, not hire an agent, and then both return. I think it's good for both of them to get the exposure and experience but I don't think either are in any position to be in high demand in this year's draft.

I can't imagine bywho would go for this anyway, it puts them even further down the totem pole than they already are. Truth. Yes, it's pretty well accepted that they automatically start the season in 3rd place but on the flip side they really have to be a special kind of awful to finish anywhere bel...

I honestly never heard his name as a real possibility of transferring to USU. Coach Smith was asked about him almost from day 1 and he always made it sound as if Mooney was going to follow his dreams of playing at a P5 and particularly with a contender that needed his skill set. I'm sure there was s...

Rob Turbin was also at Pro Day and worked out for some teams. Still can't believe the somewhat poor luck Turbin has had in the NFL with being a featured back. While he did get to experience a lot of early success as a Seahawk, being drafted there behind perhaps the most established RB in the league...

Re: USU pro day?

I thought Thompson would go 40"+ but the 39" would have put him at 3rd highest among RB's at the combine.

Also...
10'-6" broad jump would have been 5th best among RB's at the combine.
28 reps would have been 2nd highest among RB's.

The long reign of bat boy comes to an end. I'm not sure what the expectations are for that program but I'm certain they are unreasonable. I'm sure the boosters and fans down there are tired of knowing that they start the season in 3rd place and it's usually the best finish they can hope for. This se...

What’s your take on the Walker kid? How will he measure up to to incoming RB in June. I'm excited to have both. While their use or purpose to the team may be similar, they are not that similar in running styles. Walker's HS tapes showed him running sweeps and utilizing jump cuts and good vision up ...

Oh I think he is very close to 6'-5", it's just that he plays hunched over and low to the ground when he drives which makes him that much easier to guard for someone that is long.

Not sure I like our game plan against that zone. We tried to force our plan a bit too much when it was obvious it wasn't working. This was the first game I thought we were out-prepared but I'm still super excited about the future of this program under Smith.

We either kept picking up our dribble with no plan of where to go with the ball or tried to chest pass through the zone far too much. When we weren't busy doing that it seemed like we lost the ball around our shoes all game long. I think it's just a result of not having strong ball handlers and/or a...
