Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday

Back to the topic. I am curious: The lack of conf tourney and NIT success is likely because his teams are really bad on Defense. Curious what his teams ranked in conference in this area. I have suspicion that they are near the bottom, which would be a HUGE red flag for me. Anyone know how I find th...

Re: No offer has been made yet?

And as I thought about it some more, another strong possibility is that an offer was made to one candidate but they made a counteroffer that USU doesn't want to accept and/or USU has reason to believe that he is just trying to get a raise from his current employer and isn't a serious candidate. I g...

Re: No offer has been made yet?

Why is the admin more interested in this petty lying than they are in finding a coach? This is worse than middle school girl drama. I understand Sprinkle not wanting to be a part of an organization that bullies and manipulates its employees. As much as I love the Aggies, I really don’t like tyrant ...

Re: For those who are freaking out about Kowalczyk

I'm going to hold off judging on this occasion especially since USU hit three straight times. I didn't think the last three coaches would be as successful as they were. Craig Smith coached South Dakota and never coached an NCAA tournament game before he came here. Odom coached one which was a more ...

Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday

I'm confused why people were excited about Simon, who also has zero tournament appearances, and less wins over a shorter career than Kowalcyzk. I, for one, think that this is a fantastic hire. Supposedly Simon is a better recruiter. that he recruited as well as he did to SUU was more impressive Why...

Re: For those who are freaking out about Kowalczyk

I am seriously wondering about our AD. There is zero excitement factor with this hire. He was honestly the least qualified of any of those being considered. I would have taken Andy Hill over this. Un real. This is just not true. He was the most qualified. He has the highest level of sustained succe...

Similar finishes in the regular season would put us in the tourney every year in the MWC. Some if the lack of appearances has more to do with the league.

This is good news. Hopefully if the hires have been made they don't need to wait to start until then. Every day matters in getting started right now with the portal open.

some insight from a long time Toledo fan on TK (Tod Kowalczyk). He's a great offensive coach who has built a career on relationships and created a really solid family culture at Toledo. Has kept staff long term and had little quality player turnover beyond guys graduating from UT and using their ex...

Re: A look at coaches and kenpom

I'm not sure I see these showing Todd is much better than Tod. I think the only reason you are thinking that is because Tod hasn't left Toledo for them to drop off. His improvement is just as dramatic as the others and his consistent KenPom ranking is well above Todd's. The MAC is generally a worse ...

Re: Who should be our next head coach!

Having watched a lot of SUU games under Simons watch, I don't know if he is our answer. His teams were not great at rebounding and defense was at times non-existent. He does run and gun and his teams were fun to watch because they could shoot the three. He is from the midwest so i doubt he would co...

Re: Falslev in the portal

It seems like Mason has been pretty unhappy with his NIL money. He probably feels like he’s the face of the program with every cache valley kid getting his haircut, and yet he doesn’t get very much money. This seems like his way of forcing everybody’s hand to keep him here, but I do think that he’s...

Would live to see us hire this guy. Long record if success at a program he built from absolute garbage to winning 5 out of the last 6 regular season conference championships. With the advantages we have here, he will only get better.

Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements

I believe Connors was the guy from Utah that was stringing us along. We are in a better place right now. There are more resources in the AD than in the past. As long as we fans don't get complacent, our program will be fine. It does suck to lose an entire team. We should know that turnarounds can h...

I'd take a hard no on Mashburn but if Toppin, Jr. Joseph and Dent wanted to come north to Logan I would welcome them with open arms. Mashburn is a black hole and would not want him on the team. Toppin and Dent if they leave will basically have a list of top teams to play pay for (them). Those dudes...

I would prefer to stick with the proven formula of a head coach with a prove track record of turning lower level programs around. Not that interested in an assistance. Also today, you almost need to hire a head coach so he has players to bring with him.

Craig Smith had never taken a team to the NCAA tournament. This profile is similar to his but with a longer track record of success. This guy has turned around two programs and made them into consistent winners with few resources. I would feel good about this guy. Simon as well. This guy is in a 1-b...

Re: NIL where did it go wrong?

No rules allowed it to become pay for play. I gave no problem with guys getting paid for their actual sponsorship or likeness, but pay for play has turned this into chaos. At least in the pros there are things like salary caps or roster dates that make sense. Can you imagine if free agency in the pr...
