I have learned that Kyle Van Leeuwen has returned from his mission and will be in fall camp. I have added him to my preview and adjusted the depth charts accordingly.
The Van Leeuwen pipeline lives on. How many more does the family have to play football at USU?

Not to piss in your punch bowl, but Phil Steele is a little behind the times now. Guys like Bill Connelly have taken what he initially started and are having more success (i.e. better predicting season performance), while also putting out a more digestible form of content. Re: 2019 Utah State Football Preseason Preview: Linebacker

Great write up Aggies22! I feel that Linebacker will be the strength of our Defense. We are pretty loaded with this group! As long as the starters in the secondary hold up, this defense is ridiculously talented! We take a dive on offensive production this year to be sure. The good news is, I think ...

Aggies22, can you provide the same type of preview for each mwc team that we play? It would be greatly appreciated! You should also consider picking up Phil Steele's magazine if you want an in-depth preview of who we play. I learned a lot about Wake Forest that way and am looking forward to reading...

Re: 2019 Utah State Football Preseason Preview: Defensive Line

How does a 3 man front fit in with a 4-3 defense? A lot of seniors on this group. Hopefully the young guys will develop quickly for the upcoming years. The EDGE rush OLB that Tipa, Justus Te'i, Jaylin Bannerman, etc., will play, will primarily play right at the line of scrimmage. Although they will...

Re: 2019 Utah State Football Preseason Preview: Wide Receiver

As long as one of these guys can step up and be a go to possession receiver (meaning a guy J Love can throw a jump ball to and feel confident that he'll come down with the ball) I think we will be just fine. Tarver was so good at this last year. Jalen Greene was a nice big target as well. As good a...

Re: 2019 Utah State Football Preseason Preview: Wide Receiver

The more I look at who we have for this year, the less worried I get about this group. When you have Jordan Love throwing to you, your skills as a WR are more easily showcased. We will see how the depth develops, but the starters are as talented as any group we’ve had in the past five or six years....

Front 7 could be special

I have been chatting with a few fellow Aggies about how good our front 7 can be. All of us remember Woodward and Tipa, but I just remembered Maika Malagei red-shirted last year and showed out in key moments as a freshman in 2017. I think he could have a breakout season. The DL is also deep and exper...

Of the 15-16 we'll get, we've already burned through 8 and the lowest is Leilua at 46. If you figure that Love, Woodward, and Scarver should be top 10 (Scarver was a concensus all-American for cryin out loud), and Bright and Eberle are easily top 20, where do the other three fall? Tipa, Woodward, a...

I keep seeing Love described as a dual-threat QB, but given his numbers I don't really get that. Seems like he is more expert in stepping up in the pocket than escaping it. He's capable with his feet, but he seems to be almost the opposite of a run-first mentality. This is simply my opinion but the...

Re: 2019 Utah State Football Preseason Preview: Quarterback

I can’t think of a time where our QB room has been this deep or talented. Love is perhaps the most talented QB we have ever had, Colombi would be starting for us most years, Peasley has the credentials we used to dream of for a USU QB, and we brought in two absolutely stellar freshmen. Re: BYU, USU, BSU Joining AAC?

This is a non-starter for a lot of reasons. The MW is the best possible G5 conference for us to be in. Easy travel, traditional rivalries, and a very solid place for Oly sports to boot. AAC would increase travel costs 5-10x without a commensurate return in revenue. Also, do you really want to be in ...
