Re: Looks like PAC 12 is officially G5.
The pukies are defined by their 100+ year demonstrated inclination to play "Screw Your Buddy" at every opportunity. So count on it. [/quote] I understand that in the military (never having served myself), they would be known as a "Blue Falcon". Because, as they say, "Being a buddy is only half of i...

Re: Looks like PAC 12 is officially G5.
Either way things break in the future, there is no reason for the MWC to stand pat. Our commissioner knows that. I would say, if there are institutions that fit the MWC geographic, institutional, and financial footprint, the Conference should work proactively to entice and invite them to join our l...

Re: Looks like PAC 12 is officially G5.
Since the fateful days of Kliakov's Folly, the crumbling downfall of the once mighty PAC12 never really been in doubt. Utah ran for the exits at the first opportunity. As they probably should have. I am in favor of reaching out and helping WSU and OSU to a reasonable soft landing as much as the MWC...

There is no reason all of our teams, including Women's Basketball, can't compete at the highest level of the Mountain West Conference. That's one of the reasons I don't think these mega conferences are not going to be stable in the long term. No conference bigger than 12 teams has survived long term.

Hey if he wants the challenge Utah State can give it to him. I remember taking classes when a 40% was the high. Engineering will kick his butt IF that’s what he wants… I took a grad level stats/math class where we had 14 students. In fall quarter I got a Cminus. I dropped the other two classes in t...

Clearly there's a way foreign players can accept and get NIL money because it's happening across college basketball. End of story. Rumor has it the SEC found a loophole. They place stacks of non-sequential bills in small denominations in brown paper bags and hand them directly to the kids. Basicall...

Tennessee coach just got fired!!! shoot for the Moon!! only a couple million buyout!! Isn't it the exact opposite? If she was fired, there is no buy-out. There's a term for journalists who are 100% accurate. They're called HISTORIANS. No journalist can ever be more accurate than the information to which he has access. 22 is about as good as it gets. Has the MWC offered the PAC-2 a one-time discounted enrollment fee in light of their current situation with a specific expiry date, like in the next 10 days? Take it or leave it. This represents the MWC's full and only offer in 2024. I am sure my vision of where the PAC2 is going is not without bia...

Re: MWC Schools
A few thoughts. In some ways, we're in uncharted territory. There have been several instances of schools leaving one conference for another, or a conference splitting into two conferences, but I can't think of a conference merger. That's more than a technical distinction. The most obvious point is, ...

My preference would be for fire to rain down from heaven and consume them both. That, or a sandstorm that lasts for a year... In lieu of that, I have to go with VCU. They're 3/4 of a continent away, and largely irrelevant to USU. Anything that lowers the standing of the U is a good thing.

Ultimately there will only be two Power Conferences left standing, the Big10 and the SEC, and it will likely exist as a FB only structure with 32 teams in two e/w divisions with two n/s pods, just like the NFL. Boise jumping to another conference isn't likely as the left overs from the B10/SEC merg...

The era of growth by addition is almost over. It probably ends when Florida State, and either Notre Dame or Clemson joins the SEC to round out a twenty team conference. After that, the best way to increase per member revenue is growth by subtraction, throwing the low performers overboard. As the art...

The problem is the deer. Mountain lions go where the deer are. Twenty-five years ago, I remember hearing that there was a permanent herd of about 300 deer in Logan. They can jump a 6' fence. On paper, I like the idea of adding OSU and WSU to the conference. That would bring the total number Land Grant schools to 7 in a 14 member conference. In practice, I am concerned that they would be like Boise State and San Diego State, absolutely sure that they are better than the rest of us, alway...
