Re: Nevada Players Seek to Unionize

They may unionize themselves out of a place to play ball where people care and want to watch them. I can really see this going toward the end result of universities being scholastic only with no sponsorship of intercollegiate athletic competition. Why would they agree to some of the demands being t...

Re: Most unbeatable records in sports

Nolan Ryan's strikeout and no-hitter records. Not for lack of talent, but for the same reason Cy Young's win total will never be reached, pitchers are used far differently, and pitch far less, than they used to. Eight times in his career he started 35 games or more in a season, and in 1974 he starte...

Re: Looks like our schedule is set

If BYU is going to exist, and circumstances were normal, I'd want to play them. But I cannot overlook almost 50 years of them doing everything they can to screw USU by destroying the Skyline Conference, blackballing USUs membership in the WAC, and later MWC, to "The Project" of the early 2010s. So i...

Re: Looks like our schedule is set

If we are losing the Washington money game, I'd personally rather see the MWC do a conference only schedule. Maybe a full round robin schedule of 11 games, then a championship game. I really was hoping to see BYU sh.. themselves when they had very few chances to fit together a schedule, especially a...

To be honest would there really be that much difference than what we currently see? If we are honest with ourselves it is easy to see that there is a big gap between the power 5 and the other conferences. If there was a split I can't see if changing much. The power 5 teams would still want to sched...

I actually hope that the MWC goes to only conference games, plus perhaps one road money game with the Big-12. Screw BYU. I hope this is the year that years of hubris finally catches up with them and destroys their program. Notre Dame was always independent, and had the money, support, and national f...

I’ve heard this for a long time. What’s the business case for a new league? To increase profit you either need to increase revenue or reduce expenses. Will revenue increase? Will ESPN pay more now that the name of the league has changed? Will people start attending women’s sports? Will expenses dec...

BYU is not going to a P5 conference. The Big-12 has zero incentive to add (other than perhaps for a one season thing due to Covid 19) and will most likely look east if they do add. IMHO Central Florida is the top option that is not currently affiliated with a P5 conference. They meet every single me...

Stanford Indians lost their team name and mascot. It is wrong to discredit history for political gain.
Dartmouth did as well. Went from the Indians to the Big Green.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see BYU trying to big time us. If Hartwell gives them a road game when we are due a home game, he should be run out of town. BYU and Utah should not get anything other than a 1/1 deal.

BYU is hardly a typical, all around, college experience. At least USU has Frats and Sororities like a normal school. Private schools with strong academics can and do thrive as P5 and top tier independents. You don’t hear Stanford, USC, Duke, Northwestern, Boston College, or Notre Dame all complainin...

If I were a betting man, I’d say the Rays leave sometime around 2028-2031. That team struggles to gain any support. Maybe if they build a new stadium they stay/ but no one goes to games. Tampa Bay has a special deal with Montreal, so it has been rumor that Tampa Bay might move to Montreal. I'd love...
