Contracts are going to be needed. If the NIL money being given to an athlete is tied to a years, games played, etc. If they are being treated as a professional athlete then they shouldn't be able to hit free agency every year unless they are signing 1 year agreements. 16: the biggest winning margin in a tournament game for USU - previous record 10 v UTEP in 1970

0: the number of games TCU lost by at least 16 this season, including an 18 game season (9-9) plus three in B12T in what’s considered the best basketball conference in D1 (lost to Houston in CT by 15)

* * * This is also a case of BJ Rains being a drama queen and poor reporter. He is the one who interjected the phrase in his tweet that the coach was "just" fired before the press conference. Ard's words were: "...I just coached my last game at Utah State. I spoke with Diana and their going in a di...

Most likely to post the First Round upset

Once in a while there's a Wednesday surprise - remember that Sam and Company had to get through #11 seed Wyoming in the semis before beating SDSU in the 2020 final. Those Pokes were 2-16 coming into the tourney but beat #6 CSU and #3 Nevada to get to the semifinals.

As I said when Craig left : There isn't a coach anywhere on earth that loves USU as much as we do, who can also coach at this level, and whose only professional desire is to coach here for the rest of his career. If I'm wrong, tell me, and cc: Diana Sabau. So by definition everyone who comes here c...

This is coming and I've been saying it for a long time now, there will be a new division of just 32 teams and it will likely be for FB only, but it's coming. Oh and ybu will NOT be a part of it, sorry lurking cougars. Utah? Maybe but still doubtful. Why 32? I'm guessing two 9 team leagues. Each pla...

So do you use this development to replace your two weakest OOC games, or your two strongest? In other words bolster your OOC SOS by taking on two Q1/2s, or bolster your NET by RUTSing two Q3/4s? This season replacing Bradley and USF (our best OOCs) with second games against UN and UNLV would have bo...

Going all in on being a Basketball Conference isn't my idea of a viable strategy for the conference, basketball just doesn't bring in the money that football does. The MWC is already a solid basketball league, as long as USU, SDSU, UNLV, Nevada, and New Mexico are in the league and are competitive ...

We are becoming due for a flop hire. It's getting to the point that a kid would have to be nuts to come to USU, unless he was ok with leaving in a year or two max.
It's the NIL/free transfer era. All kids are okay with leaving in a year or two max.

Don't like that we have two month-long gaps between home games. 9/14-10/12, and 10/19-11/16 - bad for fans if we're doing well, bad for team if we're not. Also don't like having two home games in mid-late Novembrrrrrrr.

First thought was Eytle-Rock - stout D, decent shooter, could spell DBII 8-10 minutes a game. Second thought: we really need someone who can spread the floor, so Funk or Ashworth. Third thought: Akin or Shulga would give us a little more toughness and skill off the bench than Sakho or Templin. Fourt...

Two of those seven will be 6 and 7 seeds, and will have to play a first-round game and win four times for a title.

Two more will face off in the 4-5 game in the quarterfinals. Two more will likely meet the 6 and 7 seeds.

Getting the #1 seed has never meant so much.
