Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Tough loss tonight. I thought the Heat were more physical and out-hustled the Jazz. They played really agressive perimeter defense. Nobody could make a big shot down the stretch. Oh well, on to the next. First team to really exploit Bogey on D and we didn't shoot particularly well. Miami is a good ...

Re: I believe that Shulga will become a starter next season
May be right. But over who? Right now Marco, Brock and Rollie are expected back. I put Shulga over Marco. Marco is just too limited in his game, and Shulga has the complete package as a guard. I know, right. Marco played terrible tonight with his 8 assists and shut down maybe the best player in the...

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
They’re 19-2 against the spread in their last 21 games (best in nba history) and have won 18 of 21 by double digits (17 of 20 before tonight which is a record).
They’re on track for the fewest clutch minutes in 25 years too
Just insane.

Sounds like AD may be out for a while for the Lakers. Hate to see injuries to anyone, but that probably clinches the Jazz getting the 1 seed. You just guaranteed a four game losing streak with that last sentence Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The Jazz are so hot right now, they can withstand an...

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
I like a faster pace game and hate the one- man dribbling and dominating the ball offense. That is incredibly boring. I would like to see a lot more cutting and screening. Watching 3 guys stand around outside the three point line isn't much fun. Motion, ball movement and layups or open jump shots i...

Banda Recruiting Rank
Not sure if many on here subscribe to Rivals but they ranked him as the #3 recruiter in the country last cycle.
I’ve said before this will be the best recruiting staff we’ve had and he’s a big reason why.

Really good, but the deep fake video stuff was really weird and unnecessary. I would have preferred more interviews with current figures who have a recollection of those days to give context.

Re: Interesting GA article.
GA is nothing but a quitter and never lasted long at any head coaching job he had, the numbers don't lie: Southern Utah 1 Season USU (first stint) 4 Seasons Wisconsin 2 Seasons Oregon State 2.5 Seasons USU (second stint) 1.5 Seasons GA lasted 11 seasons at 5 different jobs (USU twice). He's a quitt...

Re: Interesting GA article.
I am fine with them not digging too deep in the weeds on this. There is likely more to the story, but it doesn’t need to be out there. I am also fine if no one goes digging on GA, but this isn't just not deep in the weeds, it isn't even in view of the weeds. If Gary commissioned a PR firm to write ...

Re: New Commit! (Patrick Joyner Jr.)
Here's the thread on a Miami forum about this: https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/patrick-joyner-portal.167417/ Interesting to read the comments. A lot of folks say he is a tweener that bounced around LB and DE. He just never found his place at Miami. That's pretty true. Came in as a LB. Had some...

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
Joyner is interesting. Really highly regarded in high school. Had some major injuries his first couple years at Miami. Miami had awful linebacker play this year and he couldn’t crack the field so if he’s coming here as a LB I’ll be surprised. I think he’d be a good rush end if he can get his weight ...

DVD
Increasing chatter on Miami boards that they may make DVD their corners coach to keep him. I doubted this would happen initially because they really need someone proven there, but the current rumor is they are trying to hire Travaris Robinson as secondary coach (who would be a great hire)and DVD wou...

Re: Cash Gilliam
For reference, below is Miami's DL from this year (FWIW given Banda's background and what you generally see in a 4-man front this might be his goal) DE Quincy Roche 6-3 245 DE Jaelen Phillips 6-5 266 Greg Roussea opted out otherwise he would have started and he is a bit taller and heavier than Phill...

Re: Cash Gilliam
I think this is good news. Will be interesting to see how the new staff uses him (safety, lb, or some type of hybrid position). Definitely. I'm hearing we are going to run a 4-man front. I hope we get some speed at OLB, then. We got killed on triple option and RPO on the edges. That needs to be add...

Re: Cash Gilliam
If we project to be well under the 85, and are light on bodies for the spring, I would welcome back a lot of these guys who initially entered the portal since it can get our roster number up without counting towards the 25 IC limit (provided they didn't burn bridges on the way out).

Re: Who the New Coaches Are (UPDATED)
Are we sure DVD is coming there are rumors on the Miami board that he may be staying? Miami’s current CB coach is not returning hence the speculation but I doubt DVD would be in consideration for that job. They need a splash hire and big time recruiter there. DVD has good recruiting skills but has ...

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
Patrick Joyner Jr., a DE/LB from Miami, entered the portal today. Maybe someone to keep an eye on that may follow Banda. Hardly ever played at Miami. Had an injury or two early in his career. Too slow for LB and buried on the DE depth chart behind a bunch of good players. Tweener at the ACC level bu...

Re: Do we have scholarships to give?
This is shaping up to be a really good recruiting staff. I think I’d rather they save spots for the next class giving them time to evaluate and recruit rather than fill up those spots with transfers now. We should take transfers or mid 3* plus recruits with our remaining 2021 schollies. The more gu...

Re: Banda
Rumor on Miami boards is Banda might bring Demarcus Van Dyke to be the cornerbacks coach.
He has been an off-field staffer for Miami for a couple years and was a pretty good player there. Would be his first on-field coaching job but I think he would do a good job FWIW.

Re: Who are our assistant coaches? Anyone heard
I'm not sure if we want Banda as DC if the rumors are true. He might be able to recruit but his defences are garbage. Miami’s defense isn’t his and they’ve been consistently very good if not near the top of the country in yards per play allowed, ppg allowed, tackles for loss and sacks until this ye...
