Re: Football Season Is In Jeopardy

I have generally been a pessimist on the Covid 19 stuff but I think we have a mostly normal football season. For a few reasons: 1. The shutdown is to allow hospitals time to build capacity. That is being done, though too slowly. By fall though, I think there will be testing systems in place that ca...

The recovery plan announced by Governor Herbert today calls for up to 26 weeks of social distancing. Kiss football season goodbye if that’s the case.

I respectfully disagree with this assertion our Football season is in jeopardy.. There are currently flu countermeasures in play, being reviewed, accepted and applied. Mark Cuban thinks the NBA will resume before June 1. Not sure who he’s talking to or if it’s just hopeful speculation on his part but would bode well for football season if he’s right.

Appears a viable countermeasure for the Wuhan virus is pending..even imminent. Many mitigating factors to counter this virus are in play at this time, and the politicians seem to be on a rare moment of considering what is best for our nation vs. what is best for their party. I expect to see a full ...

Unless an effective anti viral treatment is found (and it looks like there are a few promising candidates but who knows), I don’t see major sporting events happening again until Fall 2021.

We are in North Salt Lake and it was pretty strong at our place. We felt about a dozen aftershocks throughout the day.

Hope no one here had any serious damage. My office downtown had some damage to a few things but nothing major.

Hope any Aggies in the Magna area are doing well.

Prediction time... hate to say it... 2020 College FB season kaput. HOPE I'm wrong Steven Godfrey is reporting that even the most conservative of coaches are concerned about the season. I am very concerned. At this point, I would be very surprised if the season starts on time or is uninterrupted. It...

Working at home and watching games from last season I still have on the DVR.

How is everyone passing the time if you are at home? Maybe we can organize a group rewatch of a game and join each other in chat?

I don't see him leaving. NCAA tournament auto-bids every year and in the polls at the end of season every season, and the new MWC tv deal = a pay raise at Utah State. I thought about doing that this year but held off. I’ll probably wait until college football season now.

I am willing to guess that we see much less coaching movement in the next couple months than usual given the circumstances and that is probably to our benefit in keeping Smith around for a bit.

Kind of strange to do a senior night honor for a pre-emptive portal transfer though isn't it?
He was never coming back next year. It was either hang it up due to his back or grad transfer and try and play. He had already graduated and we knew he was moving on so not strange to do it IMO.

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to wake up in about a week and say, "...oh crap, what did we do?!" You are correct. The world's response to this virus is insane. This feels a lot like H1N1 where people were nervous about it spreading and being serious, and then it spread and became a pandemic. But the difference is once swine flu spread people just kind of realized they probably wouldn't die from it and moved on...

I may be executed for saying this, but Brock Miller probably has the best chance of the existing players by my estimation. Either him or Bean. Miller has averaged high single digits in this first 2 seasons. If he averages around 19+ points a game for the next two seasons he would reach 2000. If he ...

Very glad I did not post in this thread in mid January.

I think this team was really beat up and hurting then and the week off before the Boise game was huge. We blew that game but played well and then got it together. Getting another week off now should help too.

Like Manu Ginobili?
I guess? You tell me. There’s always an exception to a general rule you could cite but they’re general rules for a reason. You’re telling me no team will move him down their board because of his age?

It almost really mattered when that Flynn shot almost went in. It mattered beyond whether Flynn's shot went in or not. What if Merrill missed his shot? It wasn't just hitting his wrist during the shot, he continued to move into Merrill after the shot to the extent it put him on the floor. Easy call...

Not sure why so many Aggie fans think all of the announcers, officials, media, and the conference are out to get us for some reason.
