Re: No offer has been made yet?

And as I thought about it some more, another strong possibility is that an offer was made to one candidate but they made a counteroffer that USU doesn't want to accept and/or USU has reason to believe that he is just trying to get a raise from his current employer and isn't a serious candidate. I g...

I got a copy of Odom's VCU contract. Here's the language used for the future home/home:

Let me know if you're interested in any other numbers etc. in his contract.
That’s pretty toothless and about what I expected to see. Thanks for sharing. Interesting read.

Re: New Head Coach Contracts

It would be tough to enforce because you’d effectively be binding a third party (the new school) to the contract between old school and the coach. The coach is in breach of the contract when he takes a new job which is why the coach has to pay the buyout but the school is not obligated to comply wit...

The "I'd rather Bovee make the hire than Sabau" stuff here is comical. Under Bovee's watch, we hired a coaching staff and gave them five nights in a hotel and a good luck. He was largely pretty quiet on the issue. There is only so much we can expect him to know. As much as I like to think of him a savant he only knows what people are willing to share with him. Things change. It can be very fluid until ink hits paper. Stir example sometimes you’re inline for a job and...

Re: Aggies22 missed twice but I still love his posts

Aggies22 has great info. I know that Pope wants out of Provo and was willing to take a big discount on his deal (at least in the early years of it) to get the UW job. He has interviewed for a bunch of jobs the last few years. UW just really prioritized Sprinkle. I don't recall Aggies22 saying Pope t...

He would be a disaster. His players hated him which is they had 6-7 guys leave the team every year before the portal was even conceived. Tommy Connor did a ton of heavy lifting recruiting. Boosters hated him too. There is also some personal baggage stuff there that may make him a bad fit/unproductiv...

I was told that Sprinkle was somebody that would want to be here long term when he was hired.
Skepticism is appropriate, but I think there is more validity to it with Todd than others.

You can't just arbitrarily pick a buyout number without it potentially turning into an unenforceable penalty provision, which is why it is almost always the remaining balance on the contract since the parties can agree to that amount of damages. Want a higher buyout, offer the next coach $2 million ...
