Re: Will the Olympics finally get us a Provo to Logan Front Runner extetion?
No. My understanding is that the Front Runner will almost certainly never make it to Cache Valley because Sardine is too steep for rail lines. They would have to run it through Valley View, which, aside from being prohibitively expensive, would most likely mean no one would use it because it would ...

I don’t follow them so I don’t know who- but they beat Kansas and a few other great teams. I also read none of the thread. Anyone who says they wouldn’t want any of it is lying to You. They have some very good players that would help USU. But don't get your hopes up. This is their players looking f...

Re: Do we want any BYU Players?
Hall is not going to Utah State. He’s pulling the old move of “get your boosters to pony up the money, so that you don’t leave to a rival school”. So this is a money grab? I'd think that Creighton will probably throw money at him, same as they did Ashworth. NIL has turned college basketball and foo...

Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday
Toledo is objectively light years ahead of Bowling Green and SUU in every possible metric. Comparing Todd to Tod is apples to oranges, Tod has obviously had more success but never reaching a NCAA tournament is a tough pill to swallow. Not making it in one year at Bowling Green doesn’t mean much, an...

I'm confused why people were excited about Simon, who also has zero tournament appearances, and less wins over a shorter career than Kowalcyzk. I, for one, think that this is a fantastic hire. You shouldn't be confused. People have given their reasons a hundred times, you just don't like them. No, ...

Re: Tod Kowalczyk - Announcement on Tuesday
Have we ever hired a coach this close to retirement that worked out? I believe Gary 2.0 was 55 years old. What does Tod (57 years old) have to lose if things don't work out? IMO, the contract should be short and built primarily on incentives. I'm not sure USU has hired a 57-year-old coach in recent...

Is this about him chasing NIL money?
Is he unhappy at USU? Why?
What is the most likely destination? Washington? Utah? BYU? Somewhere else?

Why is everyone convinced he wants to transfer to BYU?
What evidence of this? And why would BYU want him?
I think he might be looking to transfer to Utah or Washington, more likely, as he's familiar with the coaches

I'm liking Todd Simon.
Coached at SUU --- knows how to recruit this area. He was successful there.
43 years old.
Knows the MWC. Coached at UNLV and Findlay Prep.
He'd be a solid hire.

Re: We got screwed!!!!
The key to not getting screwed in the NCAA tourney:
(1) be in a P5 conferenced. The more prestigious, the better. (includes BIG East)
(2) don't be in a G5 conference or you will get screwed, unless you are Gonzaga

From the other thread: I'd look at John Wardenberg, at BYU. He could be a stabilizing hire if he will take the job. Maybe for a few years until he retires and passes it off to someone else. Good resume. Has coached Womens and Mens. Plus he is a USU alum (Master's Degree) https://byucougars.com/sport...

Re: MWC Schools
The risk right now is that Oregon State and Washington State are scheming to try and steal only a portion of the MWC schools, rather than do a full merger. Unfortunately, there are a few backstabber schools in the MWC that could be interested in helping them do this---namely the California schools. ...

I know we hate that school in Provo, but they have an assistant John Wardenburg who I personally know who i think could be a good fit as a dark horse type candidate. Agree with the comments of many people on here... Raising student fees to give 18-24 year old athletes even more benefits (they get a lot already) is disgusting. I also refuse to contribute to NIL. Same with throwing a little extra money at coaching salaries---it won't make a difference, those coach...

I think he was possibly hired as a defensive analyst. Not sure what that means exactly. Maybe that he can't directly coach the players? My guess is that he wanted an easy coaching gig, and Kalani offered him a job as a friend, since Gary is Kalani's mentor. Probably a good situation for him. He's 60...
