Re: Torrey Green accused of serial rape on campus

I have not read the Trib articles and, even if I had read them, would not give them much credit for any "facts." News outlets today are not in the reporting business, they are in the advertising business. They will slant stories to get more eyeballs to read/view the story, which increases their adve...

Re: Aggie Ice Cream vs BYU Creamery - KSL Poll

I was in Logan last summer with the family and introduced my kids to Aggie Ice Cream. They all loved it, especially the generous portion sizes. When I went to pay some yahoo behind me had a TDS shirt on and I commented I was not sure he could be served there. One of the employee's behind the counter...

Re: Top 50

I would second Bear Ward, given he was the first All-American at ever at USU. Alas, he will probably not make the list given he played back in the 1930s.

Re: Maverik Stadium Rules

Every sports stadium, amusement park, concert venue, movie theater, etc. has a rule like this but it is rarely strictly enforced. I doubt a thermos, water bottle, small bag of candy, or other small snack would be a problem but you would run into a problem if you try to bring a full bag of drinks and...

NAR: BYU in Men's VB Championship

Last night I saw BYU made it to the NCAA men's volleyball championship game and decided to get tickets to take my son and a friend in the area. The tickets were cheap and I like watching good volleyball. I had forgotten the championship was going on in State College, two hours away from me, and was ...

Re: WSU vs. USU Salaries

The TV contract issue starts to come into play next year with the B1G contract with ESPN expiring. I doubt that will provide much, if any, indication on where things are headed though. If the cord cutting trend continues at its current pace I would expect to see at least a smaller increase or a shor...

Re: Ranking G5 Football Coaching Jobs

An answer each to two questions from my outsider perspective. I personally would drop BYU much lower on that list, but we have a view of that particular institution that most don't. I suspect the writers see BYU's P5-level stadium, support, and tradition and go from there. It may also have somethin...

Re: Additional Donation to the Stadium Project

Being designated as a non-profit has nothing to do with whether a business can earn a profit. To continue operating a business must earn a profit or find some other source of positive revenue stream (i.e. investors). The non-profit designation limits how profits are used. Profits cannot be used as d...

Re: remember when

This team's grade thus far is incomplete and I am willing to give TD through next season before arriving at any conclusive judgment. The team has shown an ability to step up and close out a couple of close games and to beat teams they should beat. The tougher games are not indicating this team is re...

Re: Will our football team ever have continuity?

We are in a good spot with administration's support, but Stan is over 70 and been on the job nearly 11 years now. Just based on his age he is likely stepping down within the next couple of years. If the search committee does not ensure the next USU president has a similar focus on the athletic progr...

Re: Please tell me Commissioner Thompson isn't this dumb...

I would be reluctant to allow BYU back, but for the long-term benefit of the MWC it would probably be best. I also agree with others that no concessions should be made allowing BYU to return to the conference. The MWC was in a different position when Boise and SDSU were ready to bolt and their depar...

Re: This is what Duryea should do

What Collette did was extremely low and I have no problem with USU not granting a release. Collette can go to whatever school he chooses and his only complication is on the athletic scholarship/playing side. At the same time I would have no problem with USU granting a release to any school in the So...

Re: UVU athletics - the 2nd most subsidized in the US

I also agree that UVU should never exist and the school would serve the community much more effectively as JC. It also means more resources could have been devoted to USU and Utah. Out East the only people who have heard of UVU are from Utah and it will likely always remain that way. In many respect...

Re: When did you become an Aggie?

Aggie blue runs in my blood and I am proud to pass it on to my kids. My grandfather graduated through ROTC just before the start of WWII and I like to believe one of his cousins, Bear Ward, helped convince up to go up to the AC on the hill. My parents defected to the TDS. Both of my wife's parents a...

Re: Good news:

I fully expect coaches to rip the players a new one over the next couple of days for their overall performance. Yes, we should have manhandled SUU. But as much as coaches tried to prevent it, I think there was a lack of focus by the players on this week and instead focusing on next week against Utah...

Re: Trenton crash - USU players involved

From the picutres it does not look like seat belts would have helped much, especially since no one was thrown from the vehicle (fortunately). I was in the 2001 men's volleyball van accident back in Wyoming and the response by the administration was awesome. I would expect no less in this instance as...

Re: A whole new NCAA

While a stipend sounds good in theory, economic reality will ultimately prevent it from being adopted. What often is forgotten is Title IX will require every student athlete to be treated similarly. While football may be driving the bus, there are a lot of other seats used by non-revenue generating ...

Re: Kyle Davis Dunk

I was at the game for the Troy Rolle dunk and remember it vividly. USU was undefeated in conference and came out flat in that game. Rolle's dunk energized USU and they cruised to victory. I have not seen the Kyle Davis dunk, but Rolle's dunk is a tough one to top.
