Re: CBS Sports Bracketology

Agree with all of this. Didn't expect to be on the list this year, regardless of how meaningless early season polls/bracket projections are. Excited for Houston and to start conference play!

Re: Better enjoy the W tonight cougs

Smith got punked last night and I really felt like the lineup change overwhelmed us out of the gate. By going small BYU forced Merrill off the ball and made him use a lot of energy in the first 10-15 minutes of the game. We weren't prepared for small ball at all. We took way to long to can a timeou...

Re: Better enjoy the W tonight cougs

BYU played by far their best game of the year. They shot the ball extremely well. The return of Emery clearly gave them an emotional edge, coupled with Queta leaving the game with 2 fouls early in the first half. They went on their run and by the time Queta came back it was too late. USU outscored B...

Re: Hoops Signing Day Central

Thanks for the update, aggies22. Our depth chart seems a little odd next year. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Quinn Taylor and Dwayne Brown have been huge as "stretch 4's" for us. Next year we're hoping Anderson can fill that void but outside of that we really don't that and we have ...

Re: good win

What’s with Miller? Did he just have a bad night, or is he streaky? I know he has had a good scoring game or two, but so far he hasn’t lived up to expectations. Maybe he is still not all the way back from injury. Or maybe I am wrong. Heaven forbid. If you take out the Mississippi Valley St. game, h...

Re: good win

Miller's struggles also emphasize the need for aggressive attackers off the dribble. Miller is a floor spacer, but the purpose of spacing the floor is to open driving lanes. If you can't take advantage of those driving lanes, defenders can stick to shooters.

Re: good win

I know I should be happy with a 19-point win where we shot 50% from the field and held them to 31%, but it just didn't feel like a particularly "good win" to me. I think what is bothering me is that I'm looking for the Aggies to establish a legitimate No. 2 (and ideally a No. 3) in addition to Sam....

Re: Worst line of the night

[TK] also currently leads the team in TOs per 40 mintues. But you can probably see from Coach Smith's point of view that Crew and Abel are going to run the offense (as pass-first PGs) and take care of the ball. Actually, TK is tied for second in turnovers per minute with Ainge behind Queta. Queta a...

Agreed - these articles have the box scores from their most recent games. Alphonso really struggled on one of them and had a decent game in the other. https://www.cdapress.com/sports/20181125/nic_mens_basketball_deep-shooting_taylor_shines_again_for_cardinals https://www.cdapress.com/sports/20181124...

I noticed T. Knight didn't get much time. Any ideas why? https://newsok.com/varsitystats/basketball-boys/playerstats/76816/118/24564 I noticed that in his HS senior year T. Knight had an assist:turnover ratio of less than 1 (.788 to be exact). For reference, 3:1 assist to turnover ratio is consider...

Re: We lost, but we proved ourselves to be good with a strong possible run for NCAA tournament

It will be a longer season than we want if J Knight doesn't either start making his out of control drives or dishing it. The team has to shoot better from 3 as well. 30% isn't going to cut it and neither will below 70% FT from Knight if he is going to never dish the ball. John Knight is not really ...

Re: Worst line of the night

To clarify my most recent post, there's nothing wrong with being a score first point guard - the position is trending that way more and more at every level. It just depends on what Coach Smith feels like this team needs.

True. We also lost our 4 star recruit so i kinda just figure they cancel each other out. Hard not to say McEwen is better than the knights. From what i have watched fakira doesnt do a ton. That leaves Queta. Which i agree. Makes a bigger difference. I did notice that the toughest stretch of the gam...

What a win! That game has me wondering how long we will get to enjoy Queta. He has serious NBA potential. I’d imagine we get to enjoy another year after this, but any longer than that I just don’t know.

Queta and Brito both rolled an ankle vs. UVU. I assume that Queta will play because he came back in after he went out with an injury. Brito was near the end of the game and did not return. Don't know anything about Brock though. Just rewatched the game, noticed Miller was limping a bit/running ging...

I wonder why Bean isn't getting more time? He is a hustle player. In 19 minutes of play his stats are as follows: 10 pts 11 rebounds 2 Steals 1 assist I think the challenge for him is that if you look at the plus/minus thread from another post, although Bean leads the team in net rating, 5 of the t...

Personally, I think Knight takes a lot of bad, out of control shots and more often than not when he touches the ball he is going to the hoop. I've noticed that as well. Seems like instead of reading the defense he's determined to drive to the basket every chance he gets. Driving to the basket is fi...
