WTHCG - It's time for Playoffs! FCS First Round is this week. The Big South Conference has 2 bids into the 2017 Bracket. Conference Champion Kennesaw State received the auto-bid and hosts Samford. The Monmouth University Hawks got 2nd place in conference with 2 losses on the season. The Hawks lost on the road to University of Albany (4-7) in week 3 by a score of 14-28. The Hawks were ranked #22 going into last weekend's games and went on the road to #21 Kennesaw St for the conference championship only to be defeated by a score of 21-52. The Missouri Valley Football Conference has been one of the top conferences in FCS for quite a while, and it shows in the 2017 FCS Bracket where 5 teams appear. This ties a record, previously set by the MVFC and the Colonial Athletic Association. The MVFC is 44-19 this decade in the FCS playoffs, and CAA comes in second at 31-26. The University of Northern Iowa Panthers finished in a tie for second place in the conference with a record of 6-2, 7-4 overall. Losses came in week 1 at Iowa State Cyclones (7-4) by a score of 24-42, week 3 at SUU Thunderbirds (9-2) score 21-24, week 5 at home to Western Illinois Leathernecks (8-3) score 29-38 and week 8 at NDSU Bison (10-1) score 14-31.
