They are 7-2 with a win over V Tech on a 5 game win streak. We are 6-4, sitting 2-2 in our last 4 games. I'm frankly surprised we are up there.ncs53 wrote:The College Football Playoffs Football Power Index Ratings have Utah State #24.

Strength of schedule, I guess: Pukes, Boogars, Spoiled Children, Boazybunch and Hosers make for a pretty hefty strength of schedule.galileo wrote:We are the highest rated MW team BSU is #30 and FSU is #54
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Duke has a decent chance to play fsu for the conference championship.ncs53 wrote:The College Football Playoffs Football Power Index Ratings have Utah State #24.

Duke has hats in the mall - but only because of their basketball team. They don't count for football strength perception.QuackAttackAggie wrote:Duke has a decent chance to play fsu for the conference championship.ncs53 wrote:The College Football Playoffs Football Power Index Ratings have Utah State #24.

Re: CFP Metrics
Not sure where you are looking, when I go to the link (http://espn.go.com/college-football/sta ... eamratings) it shows USU at #61.
The article also mentions that Utah had the toughest schedule of any football team this year! ouch!
Edit: I've got it now, the article has two different ranking systems.

Re: CFP Metrics
USU ranks high in the Power Index because it measures how dominant a team has been over it's competition in all three phases. The top four teams are Florida State, Oregon, Baylor, and Alabama for good reason - they have dominated the majority of their games. The Football Power Index is supposed to measure exactly what it implies; how powerful a team is.Needhamizer wrote:They are 7-2 with a win over V Tech on a 5 game win streak. Well then it can help balance out the fact that their basketball team has the wussiest schedule. The article also mentions that Utah had the toughest schedule of any football team this year! ouch!

I don't know how utah has the hardest schedule in any way. tennesee's is way harder. They've played more top 15 teams in the last 5 weeks (5) than Utah has played top 25 teams all year (3). their schedule doesn't even compare to how hard tennesee's is.
