UNLV's Last Visit to Logan

Three Things:
1- Holy screen passes and wheel routes batman!
2- This game was the last time USU recorded a safety
3- I think this was Chuckie's most passing yards in a game at 404

Ahh, the good ol' days when we converted 3rd downs.

That was a fun game, and still one of, if not the best Aggie crowd ever. Hopefully we get some good explosives like we had then. Come on Joe and LaJuan!

I've lost interest in hoping that Joe does something this year. I'm ready to move on to Lajuan especially after he trucked that guy last game. The guy plays with a lot of fire.

I remember it was a fairly tight game until the 4th quarter. Great crowd though. Fun game!

That was the last Aggie game I have attended. I was taken aback by the crowd. Since I have moved away from the state (in about 2003), I have been to very few games. I could not believe the crowd - I was used to the crowds of the mid 90's when I was in school. Evidently the recent crowds and atmosphere have not been as good as that last UNLV home game?

There's been some close to it. There's always a reason why it's not quite as good. Last year BYU/Boise home games had a lot of visiting fans. Other matchups weren't as compelling, Weber State early on, and Wyoming/CSU/Hawaii in the colder part of the year.

Wake Forest was more expensive this year, which I'm certain turned away people. Air Force would have absolutely matched the UNLV crowd if it weren't at 8:15.

Whenever I see highlights of Kerwynn I just sit and think, "dang, that dude is slow. Imagine what he could do if he was fast..."

Lajuan between the tackles, Joe Hill on the edges and in space. I am hoping to see those two used together more, similar to how we've done the running game in the past - by committee-, starting this weekend vs UNLV. With Nick Vigil doing third and short and goal line situations.

What, after Joe ran for a 60 yard td last week?

Key word being "a" touchdown. The guy has 9 carries, 2 or 3 of which come on the csu half of the field, and he has the audacity to suck so bad he scores the only touchdown of the game for us.

Yeah he just didn't do anything for us last week. Other than score our only touchdown. And he's slow.

you're seriously using one play to tell me how he should be a feature back? Please take a look at the last two seasons and tell me I'm wrong...

First off, I never said he should be a feature back. You said you've lost hope he'd do something.

Since 2012: 155 carries, 753 yards rushing for an average of 4.86 yards a carry behind this offensive line and getting nine carries a game which hardly allows him to get up to speed or get in a rhythm.

Also has 356 receiving yards on 29 catches.

He needs more than 9 carries, especially after breaking off a 50 yard touchdown his first of of the game. I mean he got two a quarter after that.

13 touchdowns on 184 touches, one touchdown for every 14 touches of the ball. Kerwynn scored 1 touchdown for every 13 touches his senior year.

He has been disappointing for sure, but part of that comes from hardly any touches to prove anything.

I'm also not a fan of Joe Hill. He has speed, rarely seen due to a lack of football vision. He runs into the line too fast. Rarely does he get past the line of scrimmage without contact, even when our porous O-Line actually gives him a hole.

Sorry Quack - but sometimes you conveniently use stats in a way that it helps your argument. You're really going back since 2012 and comparing those two years vs what Kerwynn did in one year? Also, the fact that he's only getting 9 touches per game may be due to the fact that he breaks so easily (I didn't check, but are you adjusting the touches per games actually played over those two years?). I hoped that Joe would pan out, but at this point I would rather see them play the true freshman since I don't believe that there is much of a difference between the two.

I think that a fair comparison would be using similar variables. If you want to look at comparable stats for this season (since it does include the same variables for both players - same oline, same opponents). Look at Joe Hill vs Lajuan Hunt. LH - 35 Attempts 144 Yards and 4.1 yard average. JH - 59 Attempts 232 Yards 3.9 yard average. Pretty close, I could make the same argument that LH deserves more carries.

I am still in Joe Hill's corner. I do think he and the team would be better served if Hunt got the bulk of the carries. Hill can be a special player but I think his role is more of the 3rd down back.

To be honest I don't care who it is but this team needs the running game to step up like it did last year.

Those were the good ol' days. We really need to run the ball more, and in smarter situations.

My wishes for the running game:
- no more JoJo up the middle
- keep N Vigil on defense
- 15+ carries for Hunt (feature back)
- 5-6 plays for Hill (some screen passes and outside running)
- 5-6 plays for Hall (maybe short yardage)

I like how Hunt brought some emotion into the game the few times he ran the ball against CSU.

+100! I agree with all points, especially the "no more JoJo up the middle he's to small. It worked on Vegas last Season but now it gets stoned practically 99%. I may be wrong and I welcome any argument that says otherwise but it seems to me like the fly sweep is getting snuffed out as well.

We've had some RBs in the stable for several years. Even last year DeMartino stepped up even though he wasn't necessarily expected to be a great back. Hope Hill(or Hunt or anyone for that matter) can have a great 2nd half of the season.
