Clune is the new DC
Just tweeted out by football scoop. I like this move. He was great here, did wonders for Hawaii, and already knows the system and many of the kids

Glad he's back in the fold. He did some great things for Hawaii. Imagine what he can do with the personnel we have returning.

Called it that he'd be coming back last week. Good feeling about him at DC!

Re: Welcome back Kevin Clune
He got some time here under Orlando too, correct? So he's had the benefit of tutelage under the two very good DCs we've had here recently. All good.

Re: Welcome back Kevin Clune
He was a front runner for the WSU job. Once he didn't get that job it was a slam dunk.

Will Clune be back with the linebackers? And Lorig with the safety group?

Is Clune future HC material?

Re: Welcome back Kevin Clune
Good hire. Fits with the continuity plan. Now we just need to make that OC hire.

Welcome back Kevin Clune
So let's talk about how he did at Hawaii. Their team was/is crap, how about their defense? Other than just the continuity...did he show any signs of being a good coordinator?

I don't know much, but they improved quite a bit from the previous year. They went from the bottom of the MWC to the middle.BleedAggieBlue0 wrote:So let's talk about how he did at Hawaii. Re: Welcome back Kevin Clune
I'm really, really happy about this hire. Love bringing good guys back. He helped turn us into LBU. Hawai'i's defense was making progress in my opinion. He had them on the right track. I think our defense is in very good hands. So stoked guys

Re: Welcome back Kevin Clune
Hawaii was 113th in scoring defense two years ago and moved to 64th this past season under Clune. I watched a few of their early games before we played them and their D was quite impressive. Clune had them playing really aggressive in the same style we do and they were flying to the ball and gang tackling. Hawaii fans said they really liked what he did with the defense and agreed that Clune had them playing above their talent but their defense wore down as the season went on because they spent so much time on the field.BleedAggieBlue0 wrote:no no I'll look. Without really being able to be there for any amount of time or recruit some classes of players that he would like, I think what he was able to do with what Hawaii already had was pretty incredible.
