Chad Artist highlights....
6'3", 10.64 100 meters, 4.39 40, fastest kid in the state of Utah and he's ours!! Favorite highlight is when he runs down that kid on the fumble recovery from about 30 yards behind. Incredible. Put 25 lbs on this kid and if he maintains his speed, he'll be special.

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
Is he a mission kid. If not I would love to see Keeton healthy next year so he and Garretson can redshirt together. Garretson's long ball and that kind of speed are a match made in heaven.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:His game and size (and number) remind me of Hunter Sharp. Great get!

I definitely don't want to be a jerk, but I'm fairly positive I've answered this question on here 5+ times.hickaggie wrote:Is he a mission kid. No, he is not a mission kid.
Edit: and yes, I agree, Chad and Darrell together is a very exciting thought!

He has the tools to be very successful. Also love how he is a true fan of USU.

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
I recall there were some that said he wasn't a D1 caliber WR when we recruited him. Glad that minds have been changed, he has all the tools to be a good WR for us.
Re: Chad Artist highlights....
Chad just won the High School indoor 60m at BYU and Utah State last month and is ranked #43 in the nation and top 10 for receivers.
I think the one negative post was from the same person that has nothing positive to say about any recruit that isn't from Florida, Texas or Cal. That said its good we can sign this kid in our own backyard. Rumor has it his older brother Beau will walk on and try out this month.

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
I'll bet he'd be a consensus 3 star if he hadn't committed so early to USU. That 10.69 was as a frickin junior. Can't wait to see if he can crack the 10.5 mark this year. That puts him in really elite sprinter status for a high school kid (not just in Utah) and the impressive thing about the film was he runs so well in pads. Chasing down that fumble return was just sick. He made up nearly 30 yards in only about 65 or so.grizzagg wrote:Chad just won the High School indoor 60m at BYU and Utah State last month and is ranked #43 in the nation and top 10 for receivers.

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
I went to the Roy Logan game this year to watch Artist and didn't see much so I can see why some are not high on him. You could see he has speed to burn and I refuse to judge a high school kid off of one game. I am excited to see what he can do for us. Good get.

Utah State Commit at #20 in 100m at 10.64. I'll take this 3 star over a 4 or 5 star that runs an 11.5 or 12.0.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Track season is just starting. I wouldn't focus too much on his times during the season because they have shown to be unreliable. Let's see how he does at the byu invitational and state. I would like to see him run against guys similar in speed. It would help push him.

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
I looked at his times last year and he was running low 11's in the 100m to start the year. I agree early season is tough to gather much.aggiefanatic wrote:Madmartigan wrote:How has Chad Artist been doing this track season?

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
What are the odds we redshirt him... I think he could fit in immediately, but should we hold him till Jojo graduates?

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
Is he projected as the slot? I would think he's more of an outside guy. We've got a lot of seniors to replace next year at Wideout.smileyface wrote:What are the odds we redshirt him... I think he could fit in immediately, but should we hold him till Jojo graduates?

Re: Chad Artist highlights....
At this point in time I think he will redshirt. Chad is definitely not a slot guy. He has great straight ahead speed, but he needs to work on route running and the foot work that accompanies that. With the offseason losses of Weichers, Weese, and Patterson. I would look for us to add a JuCo WR over the summer.
Re: Chad Artist highlights....
I don't know what the coaches plan is for him, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some playing time this year and see him start next. You are 100% correct though, he is definitely not a slot receiver. I feel like Chad is one of the most flat out talented receivers we've recruited in a long time.aggies22 wrote:At this point in time I think he will redshirt. Chad is definitely not a slot guy. Re: Chad Artist highlights....
We got that recruit from Florida to take over at the slot for Jojo, and possibly Myers could work here if he's needed.
