Rayshad Lewis
I am excited to see Rayshad after seeing his film and look forward to watching him continue to make his own mark in the world of football. I expect big things out of him in the near future.

Pretty awesome to land Ray Lewis' kid. That's the kind of celebrity around the program we aren't used to! Wonder how often he will make it to Logan to watch Rayshad play

Re: Rayshad Lewis
This kid is going to be a good one--fast, surprisingly hard to tackle for a 165 pound guy, and a very high football IQ.
I expect him to play early and often.

Re: Rayshad Lewis
I think it was just UMass, but Minnesota was starting to show strong interest. I've read a couple articles saying they were surprised he was being overlooked because he was the star of the 5A FL state champ team. Sounds like his height scared schools off, but he sounds like a smart kid and a hard worker with skill. I'm excited to see how he does.Chatman wrote:Who else offered?
Just curious, but I wonder how the team manages a celebrity dad. It would be awesome if he spoke to the team and used his celebrity to bring attention to the program. But you don't want to give impressions of favoritism. I'm just thinking out loud. I'm excited for this one.
One last question. It looks like he did WR, CB and returns. Any idea what the plan is for him here?

I'm picturing a day in the near future where Bobby Wagner and Ray Lewis are both watching a USU football scrimmage/game, talking shop and maybe talking to potential recruits.

Re: Rayshad Lewis
He had offers from Utah State (MWC), Appalachian State (Sun Belt), Ball State (MAC), Florida Atlantic (CUSA), Idaho (Sun Belt), Old Dominion (CUSA), Toledo (MAC) and UMass (MAC). Minnesota had told him to stand by, as they had a player they were recruiting ahead of him, and if that player didn't commit, they were going to offer him. Apparently they either offered the other guy, or he got tired of waiting.
He's little and will need to hit the weight room. But he's considered on the same order at Craig Rucker, the kid from Miami we committed in the fall.

Re: Rayshad Lewis
Did anyone read the Florida newspaper article of him? Reporter had glowing comments. His size must have been an issue getting recruited. He sounds like he works hard and has one of those Bobby Wagner chips on his shoulder. Welcome to USU.

Which makes me sad, because we'll need a loud, fun, rambunctious player family to replace the Vigils at tailgates and in the stands!TheAKAggie wrote:I'm guessing once the football season starts he'll be busy in Bristol.noods wrote:I think it was just UMass, but Minnesota was starting to show strong interest. Re: Rayshad Lewis
247 Sports has him listed at CB, so more than likely that will be his primary position. However, after watching his highlight film, I bet he will have an Adoree Jackson at USC type role where he returns kicks and plays a few offensive snaps a game.noods wrote:I think it was just UMass, but Minnesota was starting to show strong interest. Re: Rayshad Lewis
Kid has a nice film. Multi position type guy. Key is he has motor and good football sense. He is a perfect fit for what U-State is all about! I think the kid could land anywhere other than d or oline. Welcome Rayshad, looking forward to enjoying what you bring to Merlin olsen field at the Maverik!

What's most amazing is yall think we're going to keep him. You'd think a four-year track record of verbals bolting would smarten us up.

Re: Rayshad Lewis
Every school has kids decommit. Even the Alabama's of the world. And for a myriad number of reasons. We also have a four year track record of kids staying.... as does everyone else. We don't lose any more players than anyone else. My guess is Lewis stays unless for some unforeseen reason coach Bouknight leaves.TheSauerkrautKid wrote:What's most amazing is yall think we're going to keep him. Re: Rayshad Lewis
I disagree. Rayshad looks like a really talented player- probably on the more talented end of players we tend to get. But it should be noted that he isn't Ray Lewis. Signing day is a week away- I think we can keep him.TheSauerkrautKid wrote:What's most amazing is yall think we're going to keep him. It looks like Rayshad is already getting us some publicity. On the now section on the front page of ESPN is a picture that he tweeted with his commitment to USU. Pretty Cool.

if you think noods is truly arguing what position lewis is going to play then i think you and rat both missed the point of his post.
