Wyoming, UNLV, and Hawaii

Post by JSHarvey » October 8th, 2017, 6:10 pm

These seem to be our best shots at getting to bowl eligibility, do we win all three of these games?

I think we do, but I'm curious to hear others' points of view.

Thanks in advance.

I think we beat Wyoming, and Hawaii, but lose to UNLV on the road. I think we can possibly beat Boise.

I fear USU will lose to Wyo. But the Aggies will need one of Wyo, UNM, or AFA to become bowl eligible. They can do it. UNLV and HI are the only 2 I'm comfortable with placing in the 'should win' category. I can't, in good conscience, say anything about BSU other than USU will continue the historical tradition of losing to the donks.

I don't see any games on our schedule that are completely unwinnable. I think we can win 3 of the last 6, based on what I've seen thus far. My guess is that we will probably lose one of the 3 you listed, but win one of the other 3 (Boise, @UNM, or @AFA).

I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.

I think we could win all 3.

I also wouldn’t be shocked if we go 3-9 or 4-8.

So long as KM is the starting qb, I am almost certain that we will not win another game the rest of this season. There is no hope in someone who appears to just be going through the motions.

If we come out this Saturday and the offense starts the same way it did against CSU, he must be benched. But we all know that won't happen.

USU https://knowhuddle.com/powerrankings/ rank is 2.24

Wyoming (2.25) is winnable but the team has to be mistake free. I feel our defense can win this one for us.

UNLV (2.07) is winnable if we can stop the run.

Boise State (3.07)... nope.

New Mexico (2.29) will be a close game, very winnable if we can stop the run.

Hawaii (1.34) is winnable

Air Force (2.75) is a stretch but possible.

Looks to me like we really need to win those three games. UNM may be a possibility, but I wouldn't want to hang my hat on winning a road game against an option team. Saturday is a big day for this program.

The Pokes are saying the same thing over on their Board. They think that they need this Game to go Bowling as well. Reading some of the comment is interesting especially the ones that mention how bad our QB situation is.

I don't think the Aggies win on the Rock and NM, Boise, and AFA are going to beat on them in the run game. I also think Wyoming is going to surprise the Aggies because Josh Allen is going to have all day to throw and run around for the first time in a while.

Honestly, I think they have a real difficult time getting to a bowl and sad to say I don't really care. Going bowling probably means extension for Wells and I think he's still got a 50/50 chance. Don't ever want to see the Aggies lose so its a lose, lose proposition watching them.

Who would extend Wells after this season? Yeah he won't get fired, but extension? Remind me not to hire you as an AD.

I am having a hard time understanding the optimism for this team to win. What is it about this team that makes you think we can score more points than the other team. I am not being rude, just curious what someone might be seeing that makes you think we can score points on offense other than mop up time.

Our defense is not strong enough to put pressure on any QB. If we don't pressure WYO's QB, he will have time to light us up! We can't score enough on offense to compete with that.

Our Offense can't put a drive together for anything unless they are against a third string defense.

Result: We get rolled by WYO.

I have not watched UNLV, Hawaii, or AF to see why they suck, all I know is the their record, though I have watched The Aggies to see why WE SUCK. Those that have SEEN the other teams play, do you really think we are better than the other bottom dwellers of the conference or is it just being hopeful because we are Aggies and want our team to win?

I find Sagarin rankings get pretty close to Vegas lines this point in the season. Going off current rankings, here is what he would have as the lines for the remaining games taking into account who the home team will be.

vs Wyoming (USU 2.31 pt favorite)
@ UNLV (USU 2.79 pt favorite)
vs Boise (Boise 9.59 pt favorite)
@ New Mexico (New Mex 1.95 pt favorite)
vs Hawaii (USU 9.84 favorite)
@ Air Force (Air Force 3.57 pt favorite)

So the original poster is pretty spot on. Wyoming, UNLV, and Hawaii are our best bets right now and the games we would be favored in. New mexico and Air Force are almost toss ups as well.

Outside of the Boise and Hawaii game, the other 4 games are pretty much 3 points or less as of today. Going to be interesting to see who seperates themselves from the pack.......

IMO, we don"t win this Game Saturday we won't go Bowling. I just don't see 3 more wins left on the Schedule the way this Team is.

I think Wyoming is as close to a must win game as you can get if we want to go bowling. Going 3-1 against UNLV, New Mexico, Hawai'i and Air Force seems too great a task for this team, and I just can't see us pulling a win off against Boise.

Perhaps a factor here is the number of J C and underclassmen who fill our two deep rosters. Both of these two players groups tend to improve more over the season than upperclassmen,,,, so there is a possibility, that barring difficult injuries, we grab one or two close games that we currently aren't favored in. Yes, it's a thin observation but viable.

This WYO game will be the tipping point/game. Win and you are in a good spot, lose and you could go 3-9

Got to win.

Watching the UNLV-AFA game right now. UNLV up 27-0 on the road and looking very tough. Certainly looks like a win over UNLV on the road will be a tall order for the Aggies. Looks like a surefire loss.
