He has finally been granted his medical redshirt and will be our starting QB next season.

I've been like 60/40 on renewing my season tickets for this year.

Now I'm all in...

Sometimes it's tough to go home. Ty Detmer learned this. Chuckie's a legend at USU and a nice guy. But can he coach and can he make a difference? Spencer Nelson's return to USU to coach was widely cheered, including by me. I would dare to say that Spencer's professional experience and whatever name he has/had has not helped any with USU basketball attracting big men. Can Chuckie do better and if so, why?
The bigger problem with Detmer is that he was thrown into the middle of a bunch of delusional BYU fans.

Keeton was such an enthusiastic Aggie, a real team player, and an outstanding representative of athletics and the university! I think there is huge potential for him as a part of the recruiting team. He is much more of an Aggie than GA (despite his tatoo) ever was. Nice to have something exciting to look forward to this coming season.

I disagree with this prevalent notion. Gary was an Aggie and invested in USU. He kept his house in Logan and it's no secret he donates $ back to USU.

Exactly. Not sure why so many Ags view Gary as a traitor, or at least a semi-traitor.

Very excited to have Chuckie back. He was dealt a difficult hand and made the most of it.

I'll grant you GA did better by USU than he did by Wisconsin. I think it was the abruptness of his departure after his bowl win. But his claims of an Aggie Forever looked pretty transparent. Chuckie on the other hand, is demonstrating real courage, integrity, and honesty that, IMO, make him a tremendous asset for USU athletics.

Pioneer Day parade summer before his senior year, we were near the end of the parade route, football/athletics float drives bye handing out posters and such, about 10 minutes later here comes Chuckie taking every picture and kissing ALL the babies. Smile on his face the whole time.

Why? Cause USU offered him a job and he accepted it? You can’t just create a story any way you’d like.
What exactly is it about this move that is demonstrating courage, integrity, and honesty?

It's nearly guaranteed that Chuckie won't retire after 50 years coaching at USU. Which means someday either Chuckie will leave for a better job or USU will fire him.
Let's get past this loyalty fallacy.

I assume they can't announce it til he enrolls in grad school if he is indeed a g.a. But he's here still. And he announced his return. Not sure why it has to be so hush-hush.

Are we sure it’s a GA role? Most graduate degrees, unless you’re becoming a doctor or lawyer, tend to be two year programs. He was at OSU for that long. I guess he could be doing another one or they probably take longer when you’re coaching.

Cool, I’ll take your word for it and be happy.

I saw we just lost Tommerdahl to Purdue, which opens up a vacancy on the staff, albeit for a RB/special teams coach.

A grad assistant is able to "coach" under the grad assitant label for three total seasons. Once those three seasons are up, the current school must find a non-grad assistant coaching spot for him or he must move on to a school that does.
