Find me a Boise Fan that wouldn't rather have Coach Pete (knowing he would stay for good not just leave again.)TransplantedSpud wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2018, 5:47 amHere you will find the College Football News' ranking of all 130 head coaches from the 2017-2018 season:

Find me anyone who doesn't think Saban is at least the 3rd best coach in the country (maybe some leeway for any given season up to 5th.)
Also not putting Scott Frost at 1st is a travesty.
Definitely some weird rankings.

Mendenhall #22 ?!
Whittingham below Wells ?!
Not much credibility to this list.

Really? With the resources that Coach Whitt and the utes have, they grossley underperformed this season. This should all sound familiar. It's the same narrative used to justify why Coach Wells should be fired. Ironically, both Coaches have cycled through Offensive Coordinators like they grow on trees. But with the allure of playing in the Pac-12, I have no idea why the utes have struggled so mightly to attract top flight QB's (although they did sign a top 10 kid in December) or WR's.

Note that Doug Martin of New Mexico State was 38. With them inevitably going to FCS, unless some kind of miracle happens, what you thing of a make something out of nothing coach heading up USU eventually? Not saying he should, just twiddling around.
Re: Clickbait: Ranking of all 130 Head Coaches
I was going to click on this list to see the full rankings until I saw the rankings summary you posted. Nothing short of hilarious, and clearly created just to create clicks and controversy.
Wells is a better coach than Wittingham? There are 9 current coaches in the country better than six-time national champion GOAT Nick Saban? Petersen at 48?
As an aspiring journalist, it's sickening that someone who creates a list like this has a job.

As advice to an aspiring journalist: hyperbole is not your friend. Pete Fiutak has made a living at this on a national scale probably for as long as you've been alive, and he did at least a little homework on 130 teams. You should hope to do as well. And since he's the publisher of a website, creating clicks is his job. Fiutak's not Grantland Rice or Red Smith or John Feinstein (I'm old - you may need to look them up...), but he's also not writing for The Statesman. (Having said that: I think you're off to a good start.)bleu wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2018, 11:26 amI was going to click on this list to see the full rankings until I saw the rankings summary you posted. As to the other point, keep in mind that everybody above Saban on this list had less, most of them far less, to work with in terms of talent and resources. Which is more likely? Monken or Tedford getting Alabama to the national title, or Saban getting Army or Fresno to 10 wins? I'd say the former....Wells and Whit had about the same season, so got about the same ranking... I'm with you on Petersen.
Nobody here knows anything.

Fiutak might be a successful writer but that doesn’t make this list credible.OKAggie wrote:As advice to an aspiring journalist: hyperbole is not your friend.
