Cougies and Bows

Post by ineptimusprime » September 1st, 2018, 11:04 pm

Cougies and Bows looking much tougher than projected. Gonna be real tough to come away from Provo or the islands with a dub.

At least in one game it looks like mangum can pass again which is too bad.

Getting rid of Ty Detmer has definitely made their offense look much better. Their D-Line looks really good. Secondary is terrible. I think they take Arizona tonight.

I'm not convinced that Arizona doesn't suck bigly.

Ugh, why do I torture myself watching byu?

Also, this is why it is foolish to post stuff on this board about byu being 1-4 when we play them and needing to beat us for bowl eligibility.

The Kitties have a lot of big dudes that are playing with a chip. We’ll need to utilize our up tempo, protect Love, and have him really spread the ball around, similar plan as MSU game. Will be hard to run on them as well. Wonder what their QB situation will be come game 5.

Zona doesn’t seem to be utilizing Tate how they should. Breaking in 4 New O-linemen is also not helping.

Good point. I am pretty sure BYU’s coaching staff came in our board, saw those posts, and used it for locker room material to motivate their players. Come on guys, stop posting stuff that helps BYU win games.

Has Arizona ever, one time, since history began, not taken the bait on a play action pass?

Is that what you thought I was saying about it being foolish? I hope not.

Yes, back in the days of the Desert Swarm defense. That was when they'd lose games 6-3 or 7-6.

YBU running game looked pretty good... I hope our run defense will be up to the task when we play them. This will not be an easy game.

Zona coaching was terrible. Going for 40 yd passes every other play.

We really need to win the next three games and head into Provo with some mojo.

USU offense looked real good last night! If they run uptempo like the did against MSU they will score a lot against BYU. Zona tore BYU apart tonight when they went uptempo.

Totally agree on the comment on Tate. They should have run him much more. Also, I legitimately felt like I didn't see a Zona linebacker make a single play. Did they even have any in?

That said, the one true team clearly has a strong physical running game. It will be a very tough game with them. Hopefully our apparent improvement against the run is enough.

No, my point was that BYU’s players and coaching staff don’t frequent our board, so who cares if it is foolish or not. Combine that with the fact that they went 4-9 last year, I would say the guesses that BYU might have been 1-4 going into our game had at least some validity. Was it foolish for our fans to say we would get killed by Michigan State based on the fact that we have a history of getting blown out in money games?

Didn’t watch either game-

But viewing some of the highlights -

Either Hawaii has incredible receivers or Navy’s secondary blew a lot of plays. Hawaii reviewers were consistently wide open.

Couldn't believe it when the announcer said that Arizona doesn't have an indoor practice facility. How is that possible that a P5 school in Tucson Arizona doesn't have one and a small MW school in Logan Utah does? No wonder Arizona consistently finds themselves in the bottom of the PAC 12 barrel.

On the bright side, both games should be highly entertaining. And if we do manage to win them, imagine how good it will feel!

Seems Hawaii gave up a ton of points and scored a bunch against suspect defense. I didn’t watch just looking at the box score.

Hawaii’s run and shoot is back. They are the best first half team in the country!

I'm surprised by both of these teams. A good Hawaii is great for the conference. Byu's win surprised me last night. I'm not sure of Arizonas defense is awful or byus offense is much improved. Either way it was a win for them that I wasn't expecting.

BYUs play calling is way better so far this year. Run the ball. Give Tanner easy throws. He bounced a few to reciceivers but played well and didn't just throw it up for grabs like he tends to do when they rely on him too much. Arizona is not good (have they ever seen a screen or a jet sweep?) but BYU did enough to get their fans excited. We will need to make sure we get up early and make them throw. Our guys seem to like to pick off BYU so that's good.

Wisconsin and Washington will bring BYU back to earth before we face them. However Grimes is playing to the strength of their personnel which makes the game against usu interesting. Arizona looked weak to me for a pac 12 team.

Side note, but did anyone notice BYU's unicorn commercial during the Arizona game? This was by far the worst school promotional video Ive ever seen. Maybe someone can use this.. it's golden:

It was definitely creative. But poorly executed. Seriously, there HAS to be someone better than Napoleon Dynamite and an imaginary creature to tout your university...
