Would you accept...
...a 2-1 series with the U? I saw some comments on DesNews from Ute fans saying they'd rather replace the BYU game with a 2-1 series with USU. I think should only accept 1-1 with the U, especially since they haven't been a dominant team for a long time. No reason to accept a 2-1. But I would love to see the series resume.

Re: Would you accept...
Hard pass on the 2-1. They really mess up scheduling. And its a huge slap to the face. If Northern Illinois can get a 1-1, then so can USU.

No, only 1-1. They need to man up and just win if they think they are really that much better. They are just scared to lose.

Re: Would you accept...
Absolutely not. They schedule home and home with SJSU, Fresno and Northern Illinois. We are are as good as those programs plus it is a 80 minute bus ride to the game and a game that is one of the most games played in the country. They are just pure and simple pompous pricks to where I dislike them as much or more than BYU.

Re: Would you accept...
Given the history of the series, with about 2/3 of the games being played in SLC, my view is that the pukes need to play only in Logan on Thanksgiving Day from about 2020 through 2060 to make it more fair.
2 for 1 in their favor? You are joking, right? haha

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

As much as I would love twisting the knife a bit on BYU if we were to replace them, no way on a 2-1.
If we are willing to do a 2-1 with a P5 school I would think we can find a better alternative than Utah.

Re: Would you accept...
Yeah, hard pass....
I'm not too desperate to start playing Utah every year. I think we should be playing BYU OR Utah every year unless we can get away from the money game. If we have to do the money game, our OOC schedule should be: money game, BYU/Utah, FCS, lower P5 or interesting G5 opponent. An OOC of BYU, Utah, FCS, and money game could get pretty stale and would also be pretty rough.

Re: Would you accept...
I'd schedule a one and done money game with them.... If they were willing to pay us just as much money as Washington, Michigan State, LSU, Alabama, etc. Other than that, 1-1 or nothing. And of course they aren't going to pay us as much as those other schools.

Re: Would you accept...
If they want three games, then fine. BUT:
1. At Utah (SLC)
2. At USU (Logan)
3. At Neutral Site (PROVO?????).
Nope, just stick with 1-1

Re: Would you accept...
2:1? Not just no, but hell no.
I would accept a 3 team rotation in which USU, Utah, and BYU play each other on a 1:1 basis, but not both schools every year. It shouldn't be that hard to work out, but would require the other ADs to pull their heads out of their nether regions.
Eventually, if BYU fades into the background, and both USU and Utah continue doing well in their respective conferences, the good people of the state of Utah are going to demand a resumption of the series.

I would only do a 1-1 but I also get why they don't play us. They have nothing to gain other than fans of other teams and the media saying it is a good thing. I would not want to play the Cougies and Utes every year.

Re: Would you accept...
I would only do a 2-for-1 with a program we've traditionally done money games with, and those programs wouldn't think of a game in Logan. Although somehow CSU has gotten Arkansas to come to Fort Collins, and Wyoming has gotten Oregon, Nebraska and Texas to come to Laramie through 2-for-1s.
I'm with y'all that we wouldn't do a 2-for-1 with the Utes, who have proven willing to do 1-for-1s with our conference mates and NIU. I would definitely do one with Texas or Oregon (but definitely wouldn't with Texas Tech or Oregon St.). Our 2-for-1 with Wake Forest was a giveaway AFAIC, but I'd do one with Virginia Tech or Florida State.

The U signs home and home's with Wyoming, Northern Illinois, and San Jose why in the hell would we sign a 2-1 with them?

Re: Would you accept...
Here's how I look at it:
If we really need a game and can't find a Texas, California, Florida or Washington team to pay big money first, you go to an Alabama and if no one wants to play you, go to Utah and see if it works.
That said, I would never sign a 2-1 over say 10 years but I would sign one at a time even if that equaled 2-1 over a period of time.
I think the Aggies and Utes should play more that once in the next 10 years and if it takes 2 in SLC and 1 in Logan to make that happen I think you do it.
I think you could look back in 10 years and say we got paid and we won 1 of the games, that was worth it.

Absolutely not. Like others have said, I would do a 2 for 1 with any of the P5s we've done money games with, but Utah isn't high enough profile to make concessions like that.

Re: Would you accept...
Yes, as long as there's also roughly $1,300,000 paid from UofU to USU (give or take $200,000).
I don't look at it as a 2 for 1, it's a 1 for 1 and a 1 without a return.
Any time USU plays a P5 without a return, we should be paid. I believe we were paid $1.4 mil for the Michigan State game, I think we're getting $1.9 mil for Alabama. I'm fine with paying the U if they pay us.

Re: Would you accept...
2-1 wouldn’t be that bad. So long as it’s front loaded- and/or a very high penalty for bailing. Upwards of $3 mil.
We should also be paid for our road games. We took what is essentially a 2-1 with Wake. I don’t think we should be turning down good competition, especially in-state comp.

If our AD ever signed such a deal there would be hell to pay. It might be the only thing that they could do to make me reduce my donation. It would be a sign that they have given up on building a quality program.

Re: Would you accept...
A two for one with Utah would be the equivalent of asking a girl out and mousily accepting her response while she explains she's waiting for another guy to call...if not, then she'll go out with you.
It reeks of desperation. There's no way our AD could sign a 2-1 with Utah without me envisioning him shuffling into the room like a thirteen year old boy crossing the basketball court at a middle school dance, wearing a corduroy jacket, eyes down, and signing the contract with his shoulders slumped and chin buried into his chest. And the Ute AD keeping his pen. And pinching his wife's a$$ as he walks away.
Utah is just as arrogant and condescending as BYU; in fact, probably even more so as they were arrogant even when they sucked or were average.
You know where I stand.

No, in studying relationship algorithms they are equal as far the inability to move the relationship forward. Worse, algorithms show the negative affect is compounded if both are applied simultaneously.Postiez wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2018, 7:53 pmIs that not better than the friend zone?FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2018, 6:05 pmA two for one with Utah would be the equivalent of asking a girl out and mousily accepting her response while she explains she's waiting for another guy to call...if not, then she'll go out with you.

Re: Would you accept...
I wouldn't agree to it unless one of the road games was a money game. Our budget requires us to play a money game anyway. If we have to play a money game, I'd rather play a money game in SLC than a money game in Tuscaloosa. But I definitely wouldn't accept a 2-1 unless we were getting paid for the second road game.
If Utah would only agree to restart the series if we did a H/H/N (with the neutral game in Rio Tinto or something like that), I wouldn't be happy about it, but I'd at least consider it. I'm not sure whether I would vote yes or no if the only alternative was to never play them again.
