Boise or Fresno?
Boise or Fresno?
Huge game Friday night that will very likely dictate what happens to us. So what is the desired outcome?
If Fresno wins, it all but assures us a spot in the MWC Championship; assuming we can take care of business against SJSU and CSU. Even losing to BSU would still put us in given that they would have 2 conference losses. Unfortunately in this scenario, baring some unforeseen change in the CFP poll, the championship would be in Fresno.
On the other hand, a Boise State win could setup a winner take all (for the mtn division) showdown with us in Boise Nov 24th. A game that if we were to win would mean a MWC Championship in Logan. Assuming that Fresno still makes it to the Championship game it would be a less impressive than playing a 11-1 Fresno team and could have NY6 implications depending on UCF.
So who do we want to win?

I want Fresno and I think they'll win. They definitely look like the better team right now.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
Boise looked awful tonight. BYU ran the same 3 plays all night, like TECMO BOWL, and they couldn’t stop them. I’d love to host but given our speed and strengths it might be better to play in a warmer weather stadium, dryer field situation even if it means on the road.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
I think our best outcome for the easiest path to the championship is for Fresno to beat Boise and then lose to SDSU. In that scenario, I think we get SDSU in Logan in December.

I bet one of our players will admit in an interview that the atmosphere of playing on the road is better than at home.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 4th, 2018, 1:32 amBoise looked awful tonight. I want Fresno to win. In years like this it is important to build your brand, and non MW people think the only team in the MW is Boise. We will get respect for beating Boise if they are a two or a three loss team. A showdown of two ranked teams in the CCG is great for the conference and will be a marquee win for USU.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
This is a team of destiny and we deserve to host the MWC CG. It would be a shame to go undefeated and still have to play in Fresno to lift the trophy. This Friday we should want Boise to win for that reason alone.

I guessed it was 1/3 full. 21k showed up. I am very good at estimating large crowds.

On TV it looked like 5,000 tops. Including Simba and Nala in the yellow deck.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
When in doubt I return to my "Rooting Guidelines" to help me:
1) Aggies
2) Any opponent of BYU
3) Any opponent of Utah
4) Any opponent of Boise
5) Any conference member that benefits that Aggies by winning, so long as it's not the Tator Zoobs.
6) Any G5 vs a P5 so long as it's not BYU or Boise
*Remember these guidelines are in order of importance. That means I will cheer for Utah against BYU only, and I will only cheer for Boise against BYU and Utah.

I went to the BSU BYU game last night, and I'm going to go to the BSU Fresno game this coming weekend. I'm anxious to see Fresno play in person. As a USU fan living in Boise, it's been a fun couple of weeks to watch BSU games.

This is very accurate except at number 2 I put meteor wipes Ohio State off the map. I don't need KH telling me why they are the greatest ever each week.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:When in doubt I return to my "Rooting Guidelines" to help me:

Re: Boise or Fresno?
It’s better for us for Fresno to win.
We could go into Boise with a clinched mountain division title. Boise’s spirit would be down- or at least they wouldn’t be motivated with a shot at winning the mountain division.
Winning against an 11-1 Fresno team in the conference championship would significantly boost our resume should UCF get a loss.
Home field would be nice, but a shot to win on the road is better than sitting at home because Boise was more motivated and wore the blue on blue.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
Fresno for sure. I don't see the Aggies losing another game this year. We are one of the top teams in the nation. We look so much more prepared so much stronger and faster than the teams we have been playing. How would it be to have two ranked and undefeated conference teams meeting in the championship! Go dogs! Go Aggies

Re: Boise or Fresno?
If I had wishes to make they'd be as follows:
1. Fresno beats BSU thus largely giving us a pass to the CCG
2. We beat BSU outright so as not to back into the Mountain Division championship like did a few years ago
3. SDS beats Fresno thus allowing us to host the CCG
4. We beat Fresno in the CCG
5. UCF loses a game along the way
Under the above scenario we have our cake and eat it, too.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
The optimal solution would be for Fresno and us to win out until the CCG, but have us be ranked higher and host the game in Logan. We then win, UCF loses, and we go to an NY6 bowl.
Just because they are ranked ahead of us now in the College Football Poll, doesn’t mean it will continue to be that way. Style points matter.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
I agree with these guidelines. However, this year I will be making an exception and rooting for the Zoobies rather than the Utes. I hope the Zoobies can find a way to lose their next two games and then pull out a win over Utah in SLC. That would be awesome!hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 4th, 2018, 9:54 amWhen in doubt I return to my "Rooting Guidelines" to help me:

If they beat Boise and SDSU they will increase their lead over us.

Boise. I want our guys to earn the division title and I also want us to host the MW championship. Even with a loss to Boise, there’s a good chance that Fresno would be ranked entering the championship game.

Re: Boise or Fresno?
The CFP committee have made if very clear that "style points" mean a heck of a lot less than strength of schedule. Fresno's remaining SOS > USU's remaining SOS. We won't leap them unless they lose.AggieUprising50 wrote: ↑November 4th, 2018, 7:08 pmThe optimal solution would be for Fresno and us to win out until the CCG, but have us be ranked higher and host the game in Logan. Re: Boise or Fresno?
In this scenario we would host San Diego State in the CCG. Both them and Fresno would have 1 loss and SDSU would get the bid due to Head-to-head result.utaggies wrote: ↑November 4th, 2018, 5:35 pmIf I had wishes to make they'd be as follows:
