Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
No straw man. When a team has the longest winning streak in school history it is pretty ridiculous to question the hiring decisions of the coach. Wells did a great job with the coaches he brought in and the product he put on the field. You know what you were implying with your comment about a fireable offense. You twisted yourself into a pretzel defending garys indefensible showing at oregon state. You dont need to do that again.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 1st, 2018, 12:56 pmStawwwww man.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑December 1st, 2018, 11:00 amYou are really reaching now. Wells made great staff decisions the last two years that led us to having the longest winning streak in school history. Implying that not hiring a former coach who was coming off the Oregon State debacle is a "fireable offense" is ludicrous. You don't know how Andersen on staff would have affected the team, but we do know what did happen led to one of our best seasons in school history.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑November 30th, 2018, 7:12 amYou have an obligation to make the team better. Putting personal business ahead of the team is imo a fire-able offense.
I said not doing whatever you can to make the program better in favor of Matt’s own personal feelings is fireable. This is true.
If a CEO has the opportunity to increase profits but doesn’t because of personal reasons he isn’t putting the company first, and is sacrificing the company for his own benefit.
I qualified my statement, and you conveniently left out the context. IF Wells did this because of personal reasons like wanting to dump us earlier for Oregon State; and was upset that Gary took the job instead- and the decision was personal and NOT football then it’s fireable. But the argument I was responding to is a boss shouldn’t want his former boss, and suggested Wells was protecting himself.
A football argument can be made, which is why I said “if”.
No, I don’t KNOW- but Utah took back Andersen who coached with Scalley, who he was over prior and they were a good team.
The whole “you don’t know argument” is weak because that could be said about almost anything.
You don’t KNOW that Alabama will be a really good team next year.
You don’t KNOW anything in life.
But there is a good reason to believe that Gary would have been a really guy to have on a football x’s And o’s Basis”

So it would be well to email President Cockett to let her know what we as lifetime supporters of USU think so she has something to compare against to the opinion of the temporary employee sitting in the AD.USUBlue wrote: ↑December 1st, 2018, 3:44 pmPres. And I don't believe any of those 3 are going to be talking with anybody on this board.WasatchAggie wrote: ↑December 1st, 2018, 11:31 amWith a decision this important, I’d be highly suprised if President Cockett wasn’t involved. It’s not like you are hiring a new assistant professor for the English Dept.

What does this mean? Tell her who i think we should hire? That I think Hartwell doesn't know what he is doing?BeNo wrote:So it would be well to email President Cockett to let her know what we as lifetime supporters of USU think so she has something to compare against to the opinion of the temporary employee sitting in the AD.USUBlue wrote: ↑December 1st, 2018, 3:44 pmPres. Based on FootballScoop article, another source, or your own speculation.

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
I think he’s being hired but contract details haven’t been finalized and Hartwell wants to be in charge of announcing the news. My guess.ratofallaggies wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2018, 9:43 amI’ve now heard both things that are standing behind what they’re telling me... who knows what’s going on now!!!
That’s the only reasoning I can find for having such conflicting reports.

What was I implying? The course of that conversation had several layers of qualifiers. IF Wells made it a decision based on personal ill will. IF Gary wanted to come back.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑December 1st, 2018, 4:22 pmNo straw man. I agree that Wells did great on the field. But we were specifically vulnerable on defense. I said it several times on chat vs MSU- our secondary looks vulnerable.

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
Fair enough. We will agree to disagree on many points. If gary is indeed hired ill support him and the team just as i would any other coach. Hope for the best, go aggies!Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2018, 10:47 amWhat was I implying? The course of that conversation had several layers of qualifiers.
