Recruits Leaving

Post by utahcountyaggie » November 29th, 2018, 8:01 pm

I am really worried about LB Christian Lavalle. He followed Patterson here from ASU. Is currently the 3rd highest recruit in program history (begins Bojay). Will he follow Patterson now to TTU?

Any other specific players in this recruiting class we need to be worried about?

Josh Calvin was meeting with Wells and Yost yesterday. If this deal with Tech was already effectively in place, you have to think that there may be an issue there. And Calvin is a good one.

As of this morning Josh Calvin was scheduled to come for his official visit tomorrow.

Yeah, it will be interesting to watch all the recruits that Wells and Yost had in home visits with yesterday, Josh Calvin being one.

You can count Christian Lavalle as good as gone, that one is certain but who else will follow?

That's the worst part about losing coaches to bigger programs. Losing the coordinators makes keeping recruits even tougher. Hopefully we still end up with a good group of recruits by the end of this.

Just to put some of you at ease:

TTU already has 19 hard commits based on 247 sports recruiting website. 1 4-star, 17 3-star, and 1 2-star. 7 of the commits are rated higher than our highest rated recruit (Lavalle).

I'm sure we lose a few, but I don't think it's a good move for Wells to go in and trash their recruiting class with isn't too bad -- ranks in the middle of the Big 12.

Just because a recruit doesn’t end up going to TT doesn’t mean he won’t go elsewhere.....

While is exactly why Hartwell needs to check his ego and have Gary signed this morning. If anyone can go in and sell these recruits on staying it's him. Such a damn no brainier.

I think it’s far from a no-brainer. There are a lot of legitimate questions to be asked and answered and I’m glad we have Hartwell to take a long, hard, non-emotional and unsentimental (read:objective) look at it. It’s easy and natural to overlook serious warning signs, flaws and/or shortcomings in people you love and/or revere. This is a case where a cold, analytical viewpoint is essential. Maybe Gary is the right guy again but I think it’s also very, very possible that he is not - despite what he did here the first time around and despite the warm memories and gratitude many or most of us have of and for him.

It is interesting that Wells was wearing TT colors on that recruiting trip and not a single U-State logo or bull logo.

I mean at least wear blue.

If he flips some of those recruited on a trip presumably being billed to Utah State- is smell smoke.

Yeah I wonder if it was a “Utah State or wherever I end up” recruiting pitch.

He knew by that point that he was taking the TT job. Why even go and make home visits if their weren't other motives involved. I really appreciate everything that he did here, and wish him well, but this doesn't sit well.

Come on. This is a fan board. Not a place for reasoned opinions, rational viewpoints, or pauses for reflection. We rush to conclusions and theoretical solutions based purely on emotion.

Have been told that all scheduled official visits by recruits this weekend will be canceled. This could definitely impact.
