Should USU Create an Endowment for the Head FB Coaching Position?

Would this even be possible at USU with a finite number of uber-wealthy donors interested in football? Thoughts?

As far as I know, the MOF is an annual donation fund, with the money being spent each year on coaches’ salaries. It’s a good program, but it isn’t an endowment with the corpus being held in perpetuity and earnings being spent on salaries.

As a student I remember speaking with the VP for Advancement and he said it required about $250,000 for an endowed scholarship fund. This was around 2000 (dang I'm getting older, but that is the goal) and tuition was something like $4,000 per year. I do not recall now whether that was for more than one scholarship or not. Assuming it was for a single scholarship, it would probably require at least $25 million before a coach's endowment could even start to be a feasible source of revenue to perpetually help with salaries for coaches.

tbh I think there are donors who’d consider a split-interest agreement that set one up.

Problem is, those can be very problematic for the school during a down turn in the market.

When I win the next $1.4 B. powerball, I’ll set one up.

ChicAggie has a firm grip on reality here folks. It takes a serious amount of seed money to generate any real Endowment purse.
