I really don't see how Hartwell had any choice but to guarantee FM a job. Otherwise, he would have had no choice but to go to Texas Tech.

As I've said before. None of the Polynesian coaches (Frank, Uani, Al) or staff (Waqa) were going to Texas. Ever.2004AG wrote: ↑December 11th, 2018, 1:54 pmI really don't see how Hartwell had any choice but to guarantee FM a job. Otherwise, he would have had no choice but to go to Texas Tech.

Re: Gary's assistants?
This is probably the ONE year that an assistant would have reason to come here over USC, simply because they have a little security here, where as they could potentially lose a USC job within a year.

Yeah he mentioned in this press conference that he was going to be DC, until someone came up to him and expressed an interest in the job. I don’t believe he would’ve shared that story that way if it was an inside person who is already here. I think it’s going to be someone that he’s known from the past and is bringing with him

Aggies22 has a much better handle on that than me. He broke the new a few weeks ago that we currently had zero presence there... Which came as a shock to me. And Gary confirmed that with the interview

Re: Gary's assistants?
This has to change immediately. I'd argue there is more talent here than anywhere else. There are plenty of players that will be overlooked by the Florida and SEC schools that can make an impact in Logan - Jojo Natson for one.MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑December 13th, 2018, 11:19 pmLolbrownjeans wrote: ↑December 13th, 2018, 10:48 pmSo Charlie Weis Jr. as OC?MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑December 13th, 2018, 10:46 pmGary did tell DJ & PK we "are going to get back into Florida "aggies22 wrote: ↑December 13th, 2018, 10:05 pmI'm 2 for 2!aggies22 wrote: ↑December 9th, 2018, 10:14 amHere's my wild unfounded stab at a possible coaching staff.

Re: Gary's assistants?
Getting back to Florida for recruiting would be great. However, it is such a different environment, (huge culture shock). I knew football players from Florida back in the 70’s that never felt comfortable here due to culture and weather mostly. They left after 1 or 2 years.

Re: Gary's assistants?
Some of those guys, while from FL, went to JC somewhere else. We didn't recruit them out of Florida. Tarver specifically comes to mind. He was in Kansas playing JC ball. Jaren Colston-Green was playing JC ball in Arizona. Devonte Robinson I think came out of a Kansas JC.
Which Davis? Jalen came from La Mesa, Calif. Will Davis came from a JC in De Anza, Calif.
Still, I agree that there's value in recruiting Florida.

Re: Gary's assistants?
I listed all the Florida recruits that were Bouknights or Shavers guys on the first or second page of the thread. The only one that I missed was Quinton Byrd.

Re: Gary's assistants?
I'm pretty sure Bouknight recruited both Tarver and Robinson but Colson-Green was recruited by Josh Heupel. To my recollection we have not recruited anyone named "Davis" from Florida.brownjeans wrote: ↑December 14th, 2018, 9:49 amSome of those guys, while from FL, went to JC somewhere else. Re: Gary's assistants?
We should definitely recruit Florida and Texas, but our primary areas should continue to be Utah, California, and the Pac NW.bullshot wrote: ↑December 14th, 2018, 8:22 amGetting back to Florida for recruiting would be great. Re: Gary's assistants?
I won't be shocked if we don't recruit Texas or the surrounding states much now that the Wells brothers are gone. Gary didn't really dip down there much when he was here the first time. But most of Phillips recruiting success has been in Texas so I guess we'll see. Texas guys under Gary: Chris Freisen, Cam Sanders, Chuckie Keeton, Brandon Swindell, La'Bradford Harold and Tavarreon Dickerson.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2018, 10:39 pmWe should definitely recruit Florida and Texas, but our primary areas should continue to be Utah, California, and the Pac NW.bullshot wrote: ↑December 14th, 2018, 8:22 amGetting back to Florida for recruiting would be great. Thanks to fantastic work by my colleagues Isaac and Seth, we do know that Sanford has been the hitting the Florida area and Phillips has been evaluating JC WRs. With Mike Caputo just moving up from a spot as a grad assistant is going to be interesting where he ends up. He's going to have to blaze his own trails where ever Gary decides to send him. The list below is where I predict the assistants areas will be.
Gary Andersen: Utah
Mike Sanford Jr.: Florida
Jason Phillips: Texas
Stacy Collins: Pacific Northwest
Frank Maile: Utah and Hawaii
TJ Woods: California
Justin Ena: Utah, Pacific Northwest and Colorado
Bojay Filimoeatu: California
Mike Caputo: ?
Cornerbacks Coach: ??
10th Assistant: ??
