I thought we’d jump 4 teams and go from #27 to # 23. But we also jumped BSU to get to #22. That’s gotta thrill the Broncos! I love it!

That is the other great thing. The mighty PAC-12 had two teams ranked to our 3! Has that ever happened? Pass out the crow!!!

Very excited for this year and the future!
Your other team had a pretty good year too! I kept waiting for Tua to put his superman cape on but it never happened. Wow that Clemson D - and they were missing one of their best D linemen.

I am really happy about a 11-2 season! Ranked ahead of Utah, Boise and BYU.

Why is it that Utah and BYU get most of the media attention here? Is it that the media is to lazy to actually spend the time on USU or that our fans don’t drive ratings?

Things need to change in my a opinion.

I too wish we would hear more from SL media about our team, but the reason they don't talk about us as much as the others is simple math: when they talk Aggies, ratings go down, when they talk Utes and Cougars (no matter how good or bad they are) ratings go up.

This is not just about proximity it is about fanbase. Both schools have secondary fans, whereas we don't. If you are an Aggie fan, you either are an alumni, or you have a family member that is. For the southern schools, they have vast oceans of secondary fans to pull from. These are fans that didn't attend the school, but follow them anyway.

From a news fairness standpoint we SHOULD get more coverage as our program this year was more newsworthy. However sports reporters aren't really in the news game, they are in the entertainment game so the rules don't apply.

As the saying goes..."it isn't personal, just business."

That said, I am hopeful that as our programs continues to win and win impressively, we can finally start to build casual fans. This year was the first time in my 28 years of fandom that when I had extra tickets, they went fast. An often to non Aggie alums who wanted to see our offense in action.

Here's some interesting stuff: Non-power conference rankings + P12:

10 Wazzu (p12)
11 UCF (AAC)
13 U-Dub (p12)
18 Fresno St (MWC)
22 Utah St (MWC)
23 Boazy St (MWC)
24 Cincy (AAC)
26 App St (SBC)
27 Furd (p12)
29 ewe (p12)
33 Oregon (p12)
35 Troy St (SBC)
36 Ga Southern (SBC)

So ... Conference of Champions hasn't exactly distinguished itself as being plainly superior to the non power conferences as a group or, quite frankly, the MWC this season based upon this metric.

The humans seem to be more kindly disposed towards us than the computers (on average), although S&P Outsiders was very generous. None of them however ranked us above Utah. Sagarin and S&P ranked us above Boise, Wilson did not.

Sagarin ranks us at #27 with Utah at #23 (Boise at #29, BYU at #63)
S&P ranks us at #19 with Utah at #16 (Boise at #27, BYU at #46)
Wilson ranks us at #45 with Utah at #37 (Boise at #38, BYU at #65)

We aren't in a P5 conference, so don't expect to see much for Early Top 25 lists.

What's with that prick Jon Wilner out of San Jose? He seems to have beef with us. Has both us an Boise St. unranked but found it in his heart to place Utah at #23. What a jackhole! About as bad as Tedford not voting for BSU or USU either...wonder if he did for his final poll?

There were several voters who left us unranked. I think it shows how little they paid attention during the season. The worst was Don Williams. He has a very strong P5 bias. The highest he ranked UCF all year was 16th (ironically in the final poll after a loss in their bowl game). He never ranked USU. He refused, despite getting a lot of grief from many people on twitter.

He's a complete moron.

Answer to your question.......Count the butts in the seats on any given Saturday in Utah. 45,000 plus in Salt Lake, 50,000 plus in Provo, and 17,000 plus (and more often, minus) in Logan. If we were 35,000, things with the media would be a bit different.

We made the trip for homecoming and were very surprised at the number of (lack of...) people in the stadium. We were confident it was going to be a big win, but it seemed like there were as many Rebel fans on the road as Aggie fans. Even with a potential blow-out win you have to have people in the stadium. Hope people in Logan will support the home games more. We do everything we can to watch from afar. Hope they have another great season with an even higher ranking. Great Season!

Bulls Eye observation McAggie. You travel from SLC for every AGGIE game you consistently attend. It's too bad more fans don't take a drink out of your cup.

Please elaborate. Are you just stating the obvious: that there will be a big turnover in personnel (I believe something like 26 players leaving the program - 24 to graduation/plus Dax and Darwin - 8 offensive starters and 5 defensive starters) and a whole new coaching staff? Or are you suggesting that we are going to take a big step backward as a team next year as a result of this turnover? Or something else?

All of the above. I like the GA hire, but Sanford is not Yost (there's really not many Yosts). So I see the following coming:

1. Offense not nearly as explosive and will play much slower. More likely to be "drive" based rather than "big play" based. 34 pts per game season average would be top end in my mind (compared to what 47 this past year).
2. Schedule is so tough. 7 wins may be all we get and will be considered to be a decent year - 11 wins would be impossible.
3. Defense should be just as good if not better, and probably more violent. GA is known as a "hit you" kind of coach. I think I'll like the re-focus even though last year's defense was very good. I hope Galea'i stays.
4. Very few seniors - may have 12 or less by the time Sep. comes. That will be an all-time low in my 50+ years following USU.
5. Bottom Line -- Expectations needs to be seriously tempered. GA has a 1st year partial rebuilding project.

I don't think this would hurt us though, we have been playing mostly underclassmen and now they have experience.....
I think we may just be somewhat satisfied with 7 wins given the coaching change and our schedule....

Although "winning is everything," improvement and competitiveness at a high level is far more important: 7 wins against higher competition is better than 11 against not-so-high competition. I'd love to see an 8-4 season with a bowl win to get it to 9-4, but I just don't see it.

As for senior numbers, I think the issue is leadership. If the Soph and Junior lettermen can step up and do the leadership thing that helped get the '18 team to 11 wins and a bowl slaughter and a 21/22 ranking, then the lack of senior numbers should not hurt so much. On the other hand, senior-laden teams tend to perform at a higher level. See, e.g., # 11's improvement in 2018.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

We are in for a big transition year next year.

Don't worry Blue, they are being groomed for this as of Jan 7.....I know things you know

Pretty sure that was you, Blue, unless '78 has hacked your account.

I know I have drunk the GA koolaid and donned my Aggie blue sunglasses, but I am hoping for a 9-3 record with losses to LSU and 2 of the following: Wake Forest, Fresno, San Diego St., and Boise St.
